Today, I will be asking the standard playing cards a question using the 6 card Marriage layout found in Regina Russell’s Card Readers Handbook. This layout is sometimes called the Answer layout (example found at CardSeer’s blog).

A friend of mine was wondering if her brother would come home for a visit at Christmas.
There are a couple of spades in the layout suggesting possible delays or setbacks. The two 5’s side to side could point to issues involving the hands/feet – taking matters into one’s hands. The Jack and King face each other implying some co-operation.
The first two cards 9H and JS represent the basis or background to the question. The 9H is the wish card. Usually when this card shows up it indicates an affirmative answer to the question. At this point it looks like the brother will come for a visit. Coupled with the Jack of spades it suggests a younger person is involved in this decision. As a rule the Jack is a male but I have found that Jacks can represent females as well especially if the personality of the spade fits. This card would not represent the brother it would be some other person.
UPDATE: THE BROTHER REALLY WANTED TO VISIT HIS SISTER. THAT WAS HIS WISH. THE ROLE OF THE JACK WAS HIS GIRLFRIEND WHO WILL BE VISITING HER RELATIVES.
Over to the last column we find the 5S and 3C. These two cards provide contributing information to the answer. The pivotal card 3C often reveals clues on how this will play out. It is not a spade. The 5S, in this case, probably represents a missed opportunity. It’s not the most positive card. It can also indicate the brother may come alone without his partner JS. The 3C is a card of luck. It is also a card of sharing. When you tie this card with the 5S it depicts the brother may be not be sure on his decision. Part of him wants to be with the partner and part of him wants to visit the sister. These two cards are not very clear so let’s look at the final two cards for a possible answer.
UPDATE: AS STATED ABOVE THE BROTHER DECIDED TO COME ALONE TO SHARE IN THE FESTIVITIES OF THE SEASONS HOLIDAYS.
The middle column ends in a heart which is generally positive. The King of Hearts is all about a family man. Often it represents a father or fatherly role. It’s all up to this King or it’s all about the King insofar as an answer. The 5D suggests the KH does not like to be alone and would want to be surrounded by people at Christmas time. The 5D is a discussion card. It also indicates property other than one’s home so maybe that’s the clue – sister’s home.
UPDATE: THESE TWO CARDS DESCRIBE PERFECTLY ABOUT THE KING OF HEARTS (BROTHER) WANTING TO BE WITH HIS FAMILY.
In summary, I think the brother will come for a visit. The pivotal card did imply there would be a sharing involved…sharing his time with the sister since that is what we asked.
UPDATE: YES, THE BROTHER WILL VISIT HIS SISTER. THE PIVOTAL CARD 3 OF CLUBS HAD THE ANSWER.
I’ll post the follow-up when I learn of the decision.
