Mother Earth wept most of the night in a steady downpour of rain. We all need a good cry to heal. When we don’t cry and we really should, the almighty Universe gifts us with a situation to make sure we cry. In my case, it was an abscess tooth causing me great pain – yes, it brought me to tears. On one level, this is understandable as the Anniversary of my beloved Father is approaching on Wednesday, Oct 9, 2013
Today I will ask the Petit Lenormand (as if I don’t have hundreds of other decks to choose from, lol) a simple relationship question. It’ll be interesting to study the various levels of this 1976 deck as there are many mythological scenes, flowers, and actual meanings on the cards to consider. I’ve added some yellow arrows to show you some of what is involved.
The Top Part of the card consists of the playing card inset on the left and the Lenormand name and number of the card we typically recognize. The center has boxed meanings which I’ll get into later once I find a magnifying ruler.
The Middle or Main image is a mythological scene, historic, etc.
The Bottom of the cards is divided into 3 smaller images with the center images always being some sort of flower throughout the 36 cards. The left and right images are rather ordinary scenes in life.
The question is from a 50-year-old female asking about the future of her relationship with a younger male X.
CARD 1: THE CLOVER. 6 ♦
Just in plain English, I see a crocodile mouth wide open. Not sure if something is in its mouth because I am unable to find my magnifying ruler. I’m not looking that deeply into these cards at this point. Looks like a rodent. Crocodiles usually represent challenges or painful experiences. This doesn’t tie in very well the Clover’s meaning but maybe this challenge is of a short duration.
Bottom left image show a couple playing instruments. She is playing a guitar and he, a drum. The type of drum he is playing has a totally different sound and beat to the guitar sounds. This means there is probably a lack of harmony or blending of energies.
Bottom right images shows a falling star. This can signify the relationship doesn’t have enough longevity to it.
The flower – not too sure, there are many other websites which address the Lenormand flowers but I do see a strawberry. Strawberry symbology suggests trust issues.
The overall gist of this card has nothing to do with luck or something happening quickly as is common with the Clover card meaning. The feeling of this card is to keep one’s mouth shut so to speak in the event something goes in it that you are unable to swallow successfully without getting hurt.
The female consultant needs to really think about this relationship because she could be “biting off more than she can chew” thinking a long-term relationship with this younger man will be healthy.
CARD 2: The MOUSE 7♣
We know the Mouse energy is one of minimizing, shrinking, eroding, depleting, etc.
The main images shows Pan depicted by the goat that is heading towards the sky while surrounded by clouds. The man climbing the rocks could be Zeus (possibly his father) after he was victorious in his battle against Typhon. The goat is the astrological symbolism of Capricorn as well, ruling the 10th house of career and ambition. What does all that mean? Part of this card is about travel. There is also a positive promise things will work out.
Bottom left image shows and oven with bright red flames. Best to stay alert and not be overcome by passions.
Bottom right image shows a man holding some tools. The meaning of this is the consultant is very talented in what she creates. She knows what tools are necessary to assist her in projects.
The flower: one of them looks like a rose. This could be a good sign for romance.
The essence of this card is telling the consultant to use her womanly charms to gain what she needs. That includes seducing the younger man to achieve her end. Hmmm, that sounds like some naughty advice to me.
—-> AT THIS POINT we won’t continue to the 3rd and final card because we do have a combination to look at for some hidden guidance. See image with arrows.
BOTTOM RIGHT OF 1st card and BOTTOM LEFT of 2nd card.
Bottom right images shows a falling star. This can signify the relationship doesn’t have enough longevity to it. Bottom left image shows and oven with bright red flames. Best to stay alert and not be overcome by passions.
These two interpretations combined suggest if you play with fire you will get burned to the ground.
*NEXT COMBINATION: the main images.
1. Crocodiles usually represent challenges or painful experience. 2. Part of this card is about travel. There is also a positive promise things will work out.
These two interpretations suggest to the consultant that it might be necessary to take a trip with this young man to eliminate some of these unspoken fears she has. I think she would put herself in a very tricky situation if she did that.
*NEXT COMBINATION: the Lenormand card meanings.
CLOVER + MOUSE = lessening of luck that’s for sure. This combination can also produces even faster energy as the mouse is cutting the time down. The Mouse usually gobbles up what is to the left of it meaning what little chance there may have been with this relationship it appears, at this point of the Reading, slim pickings.
ok Final Card. I suppose you could combine the flower interpretations as well, if you wish, but I’m moving on to the last card in the trio.
CARD 3: LADY Ace ♠
The last card is named woman/lady. This card represents the consultant.
From my research the main image shows Zeus taking on the physical form of a bull. Europe (princess of Tyre) who was courted by Zeus is riding him across the Black Sea. The interpretation suggests the consultant follow her imaginative impulses but to be careful of gossip.
Bottom left image reveals a woman standing in the open door. The look on her face could be viewed as inquisitive or suspicious. There is a word of caution with this interpretation. The consultant should not make any commitments especially if she has some suspicions about this young man.
Bottom right image shows a man sitting at a table having a drink, probably wine as vin is French for wine. This could represent the young man. Does he have a drinking problem?
Ding Dong the doorbell – oh cool, my Skat cards have arrived from the Ukraine. A deck of 32 cards from 1977. I’ll feature them on the next post.
Flower: google search identifies these as
sweat sweet peas. One of the meanings is emotionalism perhaps the consultant is too hung up on this guy.
This card is suggesting the consultant may be the one lured or seduced into this relationship as well, by the young man. She needs to “get real” about the development of this relationship.
Time for more combinations.
1st combination. The main images.
Summary: To quote what I already wrote, “These two interpretations suggest to the consultant that it might be necessary to take a trip with this young man to eliminate some of these unspoken fears she has. I think she would put herself in a very tricky situation if she did that. Now we add the meaning of the last card image. If the consultant follows through all that could happen is that she would fulfill her fantasies. That’s the message of the Main images.
2nd combination. Bottom images.
Summary: To quote what I already wrote, “Best to stay alert and not be overcome by passions.” Now, adding the last card to this equation, “There is a word of caution with this interpretation. The consultant should not make any commitments especially if she has some suspicions about this young man.” Basically, the summary is for the consultant to keep one eye open and not be consumed by intense emotional feelings.
3rd combination. Flowers.
Might as well combine these, however, it is only a generalization. Strawberry symbology suggests trust issues + Good sign for romance + Emotionalism = one’s head is clouded by mistrust which can prevent the experience or romance.
4th combination. Traditional Lenormand cards.
CLOVER + MOUSE + LADY. What do you suppose the cards are advising the female? Looks like it is solely up to her whether there will be a future relationship with male X.
None of the levels of interpretation are pointing to failure. One repeated theme is that she is not in a trusting frame of mind and these feelings are affecting her emotions, as well. She wants to sail off into the sunset with the young man but if she doesn’t change her attitude (mouse) her relationship could be short-lived (clover) and that would be of her own doing (lady).
I really like this deck because you have to really think about what all the images, emblems and meanings are suggesting. I didn’t even get to the written part in the little boxes.
Hope you enjoyed this little lesson in interpretation. 🙂
