The Sibilla della Zingara deck (Gypsy Oracle Cards) 

Card 3- bottom.  The near future.  Wedding.

The image of a wedding taking place gives me the feeling of some type of cooperation coming up in relation to the question about getting a raise.  It could be a commitment for more money but in exchange there is a responsibility which is depicted by marriage.

The question asked is whether or not Veronica (a regular Ask my Cards client) will get a raise in pay. This card says it all.  Veronica got her raise but she was a tad disappointed.  Her workload has increased by about 30-50%.  The cooperation with responsibility depicted by the card WEDDING is really uncanny when related to getting a raise.  You wouldn’t think a money question could be answered by a card predominantly used in romantic questions.

Sibylle de la Bohemienne

The Sibilla della Zingara deck (Gypsy Oracle Cards) contains the LWB which has no meanings for the individual cards.  It is written that one is to study the images on the cards and the identification name to come up with some sort of reading.  The reader asks questions at the beginning to help clarify some of these cards so that the category can be ascertained.  Sounds easy enough.

I think when you read the cards in this manner your psychic muscles get a real work out.

In the image below is the layout from the LWB.  My writing doesn’t show up clear where I have identified the spots for the five cards. The question asked is whether or not Veronica (a regular Ask my Cards client) will get a raise in pay.

Will Veronica get a raise?

Card 1 – center.  The Present- Sorrow.

The woman in the image looks like she is weeping and definitely looks like she is in a giving up mood.  The feeling I get from this card is that Veronica is feeling very happy for some reason.  This could be her current state of mind. Something is really bothering her to the point of grief.  I can’t imagine she would be so upset about a raise and feel there is and underlying problem not connected to her question.

Card 2 -above.  The Past – Hope.

What a strange looking image of a blindfolded person.  The piece of cloth around the eyes is tied to the chain of some gadget which I am not even sure what it is.  I don’t get the feeling of any kind of hope with this card.  It gives me the feeling of desperation.  Since it falls in the past I would have to say Veronica has been feeling depressed about a lot of things in her life.  The name of the card might be suggesting she has hung on to a ray of hope in the midst of a binding situation.  Veronica could be chained to her job out of pure necessity.

Card 3- below.  The near future.  Wedding.

Card 4- to the right of center.  The obstacles.  Scholar.

The scene in the card shows a man reading a large book.  In the background is a library.  When I look at this card I see that knowledge could be a hindrance.  The lack of education or training.  Maybe Veronica’s raise is based on her level of education as well.  When you have a degree, you get paid more even if you aren’t as smart as someone without a degree.  Unfortunately this is the way it is in many businesses and organizations.  In the obstacle spot, there is a clear warning of a some disadvantage.  It is not a negative answer as the near future card (wedding) if filled with promise.

Card 5- to the left of center.  Advice- Soldier.

One could read this card in a multitude of ways.  The image portrays a soldier who is either in a protective mode or ready to charge into action.  As an advice card, I think Veronica is well  prepared.  The reason I feel this is mainly because the Wedding card is in the near future.  Another way to look the Soldier card is for Veronica to take a stance if possible regarding the pay raise issue.

When Soldier is combined with Sorrow it suggests a defensive wall surrounding Veronica.  She is apprehensive about the results.  I’ll post the update to this reading when I find out the answer.

Gypsy Oracle Cards in layout

The block of 9 layout is a popular spread to use as well. No question is needed prior to shuffling and the cards will fall accordingly.
You should decide ahead of time what the rows and columns will mean. This layout can give quite extensive predictions (or forecasting -see Mary K. Greer’s article on this subject)  or it can give you a scan or overview of past, current and future. 

For the purpose of the study post, I will assign only the rows. However, I will reference combinations too.

Instead you could designate the columns with the same headings, it is entirely up to you. Also, crisscrossing the cards is common in the spread to give additional information.

It depends if you want to do an in-depth reading and if you are reading someone else I would suggest reading all the columns, rows and diagonals including the card combinations that fall together or separate.

Interpretation of this study layout is forthcoming.    

DEATH, DESPAIR, MISFORTUNE- Top row – the recent past.

At first glance these 3 cards speak of some disturbing situation that probably just happened.  It can be anything from a break up in a relationship to the loss of complete hope in regards to a situation.  The DESPAIR card depicts a man with a gun to his head.  Well at least he’s dressed for the occasion.  :) I think the point of this card is to emphasize the stupidity of how we sometimes over dramatize events in our lives. It’s like saying to yourself & not really meaning it, “I might as well just kill myself”.  It’s one of those off the cuff statements.  

Something did happen, though.  The DEATH card has brought a message of defeat and the MISFORTUNE card supports the theme speaking loud and clearly  ”if anything went wrong – it did”.  With any DEATH card there is the opportunity for rebirth.  The gun in the DESPAIR card can mean news.  The traditional European meaning for dreaming about a gun is “news”. If you hear the gun shot, the news is coming immediately and is surprising in nature.

I want to read the DESPAIR card as information that has been delivered with some serious consequences.  At this point scanning the other cards is a good idea.  What is this news about?  

LOVER, ENEMY, HOUSE – Middle row – current/now.

Here we gain more information regarding the preceding row.  Two valuable clues lie within the LOVER and the HOUSE cards.  If the person getting the reading is a female, the LOVER will represent her significant other and he will play a very important role in her life especially over the next few days or even weeks.  If it is a male seeking the advice of the cards – it is his card, and he is directly involved with the event(s).

The DEATH card above the LOVER card will tell you the female has just experience a major change in the dynamics of her relationship.  If a male, he is weighed down with a situation that has left him no choice but to  start anew or to think of other alternatives.  The ENEMY card warns of potential dangers in this new direction of events.  It also means that the female or male with have to be guarded in matters pertaining to the home (emotions).  

The MISFORTUNE card is above the HOUSE card and there is every indication this is about a family/home upset.  Well for a temporary time at least.  The feeling I get from the cards so far is that it is not as bad as it looks.  I get this from looking at the bottom row of cards- they are all positive in nature.  If they were not, then whatever this situation is- it will most likely have drastic results that will require immediate attention.

CONVERSATION, FAITHFULNESS, GIFT – Bottom row – potential result or future.

If female, she will kiss and make up with her significant other.  They will have lengthy discussions which will restore the trust (FAITHFULNESS) within the relationship or situation involving him.  In fact he might even buy her something to get on her good side or as a “I’m sorry present”.

If male, he will snap out of this mood of doom and gloom.  His confidence comes back and he realizes that he blew the entire situation out of proportion.  In the end, he will benefit (GIFT) from this situation because he decided to shed his guard (ENEMY) and to stop thinking the world is against him (DESPAIR).

I bet you there are probably another dozen or so interpretations with these 9 cards.  My interpretation is only one way of looking at these cards based on the categories I assigned to the rows. 

The worst is over no matter if the person getting the reading is female or male.  The pending future is filled with promise of happiness and a settling down of the chaos represented by the top 3 cards.

Consolation + 3 of Wands

Consolation

Consolation is an interesting card in that the imagery shows a gentleman sitting on a red bench.  He has stopped reading his book and is gazing outwards towards the sky at the Angel of Abundance.  In the background you can see 1 single ship depicting desires and yearnings.

The Angel holds a bag of money and a branch of freshly cut foliage.   What is the gentleman wishing for and why does he need to be comforted?

This card is filled with optimism and wherever it falls it blesses the surrounding cards with a promise of fulfillment.  The book on the table could be a financial ledger and the man is worried that he cannot pay his bills.  It might be a story he is reading that has touched his heart and reflects back to his own experience.

The branch could be a part of the budding staff seen in the 3 of wands.   The Angel has come to remind the man that he needs to still his mind and heart. He is reassured that the situation has set sail so to speak and the journey to the destination of his desires has begun.  

Within the CONSOLATION card is a decision making process as well and the hope that all will turn out OK.  It reminds me of the 3 of wands in the Tarot.

In the Tarot, the individual holds onto 1 of the upright flowering wands.  This represents a decision that has been made.  He looks out to the sea and watches the boats at a distance from him as well as the mountains of limitations.

Esoterically, the gray mountains represent wise choices.  

The CONSOLATION card tells you to keep your eyes open for signs and the synchronicity of events.

Sibilla della Zingara

The Gypsy Oracle Cards / Sibilla della Zingara / Oraculo de la Gitana / Sibylle de la Bohemienne / Zigeuner Orakelkarten.  The 52 cards have meanings written on them in 5 languages – English, Italian, Spanish, French and Dutch.  This is in keeping with many of the sibilla style decks.  Personally I like the black border around each card because it helps to bring out the image.  The English version on the top of the card is surrounded by a black background.  It is difficult to make out the name unless you bring the card very close to you but of course you will most likely recognize the image.

The size is the same as the Vera Sibilla Italiana and has almost the same feel to it in as far as the artistic imagery.  There are a few variations of cards but in essence they are identical.
