Reviewing Zigeuner combinations

A question about a Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten deck layout  in the comments section from  Contessa

I was curious – what would you take away from the marriage card being surrounded by both fortune and misfotrune?

I have the following:

Fortune-Marriage-Misfortune-Widower-Death

It appears to me that the relationship in question will be over permanently, and that the lady involved needs to use wisdom so she can move on. I also found it interesting that the Widower comes before death – profound grief before the end perhaps?

Many thanks for any insight you’d be willing to share

Thank you for your question. Your analysis is in keeping with the principal meanings  of these cards.  I have found that the true legend Gipsy deck can describe situations in a way that cuts through the chase.

Sometimes the obvious is the correct interpretation.

The latter cards place MARRIAGE  in jeopardy or so it seems.  One must study the cards a little deeper because there could be two things going on within the 5 cards.  It all depends on which card you are using as the focal point.

For example, if WIDOWER is used as the focus, it can describe a commitment or serious relationship (MARRIAGE)  which had a wonderful beginning (FORTUNE) in the past.  There could have been a major rift (MISFORTUNE) which eventually  will end in a surrender (DEATH) only to begin anew.

These cards can also predict an accident (MISFORTUNE)  to a person close to the WIDOWER.  The MARRIAGE would represent the partner or other person.

When reading MARRIAGE to represent a relationship, then I tend to agree with some of your analysis. The WIDOWER would be the grieving stage after the collapse (MISFORTUNE) leading to the DEATH card which is the final stage.  Within this final stage is the glimmer of re-birthing and often a relationship will change and go to another level but continue. This happens all the time in marriage type situations.  When a separation does occur through breakdown of the relationship the DEATH card becomes like the ‘period’ at the end of a sentence.

If an old gypsy woman from Eastern Europe was reading these cards back in the mid 1950’s the DEATH card would mean the marriage  is over and the person will be devastated.   Those yesteryear card readers did not include much spiritual philosophy or alternate levels of meaning for these cards.  Old fashioned fortune telling is quite dramatic.

open ended 4 card layout

I will use 4 cards from the Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten deck to illustrate an open ended 4 card layout.  There are no designations assigned to the spots.  They will be read like a sentence, linking one card with another resulting in a theme.

This type of layout is good when you want to just read the cards as is.  You can use more than 4 cards or as little as 2.  I believe that no matter how hard you focus on a question, you will not always select the cards to give you the answer that is connected to the original question.  Most of the time you do, but not every time.  I’m not sure why this happens but I think it is because a person may be thinking about one thing and have deeper feelings about something else.

These 4 cards will represent the present or current time leading into the near future.  The last card can be viewed as the outcome/result card.  In the example, we are dealing with a man and a woman.  I will read these cards as if it is a female who cast the reading.

You can look up the brief meanings for the entire deck under the header tab called  “zigeuner”

Sweetheart – the female doing the cards

Anger – the emotion she is feeling right now or will in a very short time

Lover – a male she is involved with

Death – conclusion, end, finalization, the outcome of the entire experience of the previous cards

Our main card for analysis is the Anger card.  Common sense dictates there is an argument involved or some conflict in communication.  The very in depth description can be downloaded  —->visit the direct link to  SCRIBD website.

That sounds way too easy doesn’t it.  Well maybe that is all it is, a “fight” which is sometimes normal for couples.  This “fight” is different, though.  The dynamics of the relationships will change dramatically. There will be an ending.  Most likely the female will know why this argument is happening or about to happen. Any plans that these two people did have will be cancelled temporarily.  If you wanted to at this point you could draw one more card to get a better idea why this fight is happening.  Place it across the Lover card. This new card will reveal to you what is on the Lover’s mind.

The card crossing (clarification) is Merriment.  He could be thinking about the good time he had with someone else and this is why they are having heated words.  If the last card was a positive one (which it is not), Merriment would be read as the male being a peace loving individual who was easy going and who really did not want to argue.  Maybe the Sweetheart lady instigated it.

Anger + Merriment= points to passion, intense emotions that come from a situation that gives much pleasure of the senses.  One of these people is having an affair or relations outside of the relationship.  The consequences of this affair will lead to an ending between the Sweetheart and Lover.  No matter what happened the relationship will never be the same.

Can it be salvaged?  We all know that in order for the birth of anything new, something dies. Yes, they can still be together if they forgive each other and rise above it.  And who can really do that when heightened emotions are involved.  Merriment suggests his thoughts are elsewhere.  He just wants to have fun and probably isn’t too seriously involved with the Sweetheart even if he is her husband.

Other interpretations are possible & can be more specific when you do your own layout.

Zigeuner in Simple trigger Layout

1st Row enemy, gift, malady, message

2nd Row thief, sweetheart, house, falseness

TRIGGER ROW

3rd Row constancy, desire, marriage, visit

A brief overview of the Simple Trigger Layout using the Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten from a request in the comments section.

Past – Cards 1,5,8 -describe the recent past-the last few days or the recent circumstance around your question.

ENEMY, THIEF, CONSTANCY- “the past is clear and accurate”

Now-Cards 2, YOU (#29), 9 -describe the now-what is going on with you -your thoughts and feelings.

GIFT, SWEETHEART, DESIRE- “the past is clear and accurate, the present is as well”

Immediate- Cards 3,6,10 -describe the immediate future, a day or so. These cards will tell you what to anticipate.

MALADY, HOUSE, MARRIAGE  “could this mean no imediate change to this situation regarding a relationship hitting home”

. Malady.  This card addresses issues of fatigue or the slow movement of things.

House. (trigger card)  Issues surrounding the home and family are significant.  The House can mean one’s own inner temple.

Marriage card.  Typically represents situations involving cooperation, partnerships, relationships and commitments.

.

The Trigger card is the cause and effect of the column of cards. See the explanation for the TRIGGER cards under the header tab called *Simple Layouts.

Interpretation:  Your analysis is very good. Due to a situation that is in a very slow stage of development, the relevance of home/family issues or related thoughts will trigger a focus on commitment or some sort of “working out” of a problem.
Soon- Cards 4,7,11 -describe soon, less than a week. It’ll give you an answer to your question.

MESSAGE, FALSENESS, VISIT- “could this mean information about lies will promt a visit from my “J”. as he is my former partner.”

. Message.  The delivery or correspondence of feedback that comes in the form of information is shared.

Falseness. A card of misinterpretation of information or receipt of some news that is not exactly true.  Something is missing and all the facts are not in yet.
Visit.  Generally a positive influence.  It brings some intent to discovery of gaining an expansion of what is known.  A possible gift could be in the offing.

Interpretation: You analysis is in keeping with the theme of these cards.  The visit can be by J or even yourself.  ” Visit” can also be interpreted as re-visiting information that you have received as in discussing things of the past that may or may not have happened.

Request from comments section

I received a question in the comments section regarding the interpretation of the Gipsy-Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten fortune telling cards in the layout order below. I will share the analysis of these cards using the 8-card spread. Also, applicable to the Art Deco fortune telling cards.

Row# 1 Lover,Widower, Sadness,hope

Row #2 Loss, Misfortune, house, merriment

My question was; What are “J’s” feelings for me?“J” is my love interest, we have dated in a very up and down relationship for 4 years. He’s hurt and angry with me and has asked for us to not speak until he’s ready. (its been 8 months) .Whats your take on this?

.The Reading.

The interpretation that I am about to do is based on the placement of the 8 cards. This simple layout is easy to follow. I will use my suggested key words & phrases from the TAB at the top of the head called Card Meanings

Row #1 -20. LOVER= The special man for a female seeker of the cards. Represents the male getting the reading. If there is no one special currently -a male friend, brother. In the future spot predicts the potential of a love affair.

36.WIDOWER= A lonely and sad man. A situation that must be accepted. Pining over loved one.

28. SADNESS= Tears of pain. Upsetting time. Very depressed. Under the weather. This shall pass, a temporary state of mind.

12. HOPE= Believing in a positive outcome. All is possible through faith.

Row #2- 18. LOSS= It’s a no-go. Money issues. A break-up in a relationship. Betting against the odds & losing.

25. MISFORTUNE= A card of warning. Potential mishap or freak circumstance. Expect the unexpected.

13. HOUSE= The environment you live in. A project. Members of the family

24. MERRIMENT= Having a good time. Feelings of pleasure from entertainment. Attending a function where there is much joy and laughter.

Summary. The Lover card represents “J” the love interest. The Loss card indicates the break up or rift. The Widower card points to the feelings of grief due to this separation. I chose to used the Sadness cards to represent female in this case because of it’s proximity to the House card -hitting home.

The Misfortune card describes the emotional chaos because of the situation around J and how it possibly affects the female. There is strong evidence that a reunion will occur (Merriment & Hope). The feelings of grief or sadness depicted by the cards will be overcome despite the 8 months wait.

Believe or not within the Misfortune card is a ray of hope, too. Look at the firemen…help is on it’s way to the resolution of this situation. The lady in the Hope card is throwing the roses of passion into the water. This means the relationship needs to be let go -in order for it to come back. I think conversations will resume in this relationship once the emotional intensity has been minimized. Release the roses of emotional passion.

Like the saying, “If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it was yours. If it doesn’t, it was never yours to begin with.”

reviewing Zigeuner

From the Dec 30/07 post

baby.jpgletter.jpg

[2. BABY= New beginnings, start of project or relationship. A baby. Looking after someone that is less fortunate than you are.]

[17. LETTER= A message via any mode of communication. News brings change one way or another.] The Baby + Letter can represent the announcement of a pregnancy.

Here’s what happened, I got an email a few days ago from a friend announcing that he has become a grandfather.

death.jpgjourney.jpg

[4. DEATH= A cycle card. Endings. Saying good-bye. Completion. Time to move on. Forget the past and head off into a different direction.]

[15. JOURNEY= Physical trip. Taking off. Vacation. Emergency situation.]

These two cards were an actual trip involving a good bye. One interesting thing is that the airplane flight was cancelled [Death] due to some heavy fog but there was an alternate plan to get to the connecting flight.

visit.jpg malady.jpg

[34. VISIT= The act of receiving guests and being welcomed by others. Usually there is an element of surprise involved. This card can represent an errand.]

[21. MALADY= Negative well being. Illness but within the card are also clues to a recovery. Possibility of using sickness as an excuse not to deal with something or someone.]

These two cards turned out to be an unexpected connection in a public place with a member of the family who had recent health problems (Joe). We had a short visit. He is gradually improving.

sweetheart.jpgofficer.jpg[30. SWEETHEART= If you are a female this card represents you in a reading. The cards surrounding the SWEETHEART will tell you what’s going on currently. If you are a male, then the SWEETHEART is you special lady or girlfriend. If you haven’t got one, she can represent a good female friend or sister.]

[27. OFFICER= As a person it will be anyone that wears a uniform. News comes from this person that is more formal than personal. If you get involved with this man, he will love you & leave you. A playboy.]

As it turned out these two cards involved a work situation that was formal in nature and involving much paperwork with policy …. missed that combo in the original post.

added Jan 12th- Also

sweetheart.jpg officer.jpg visit.jpg These three card suggest an important person will visit.

Or the Sweetheart will visit someone because of important matters. How to choose which possible meaning? It is best to stay on topic within the theme of the 6 cards initially involved. It was already determined that a work situation was involved. The importance is connected to the nature of the job description. The Officer is a man in uniform and in this case there were many uniforms involved. Uniforms that distinguish different lines of work and that does not always mean police, firemen, doctors/nurses.
