UPDATE on March 23, 2010 Lenormand Reading.

NOTE:

THIS READING WAS POSTED ON MARCH 23, 2010 at 21:47 pm. I’d like to share the update.  The female of this reading was me.

What do the Lenormand cards reveal?

I am going to briefly interpret the 20 Lenormand cards belonging to a full board (36) reading.

The GENTLEMAN card is the significant other of the female LADY of this reading.  Here we can see that he may be keeping secrets BOOK from her regarding a possible health issue TREE. It looks like he may have gotten some news LETTER in the recent past which requires some further investigation or solutions KEY.  I want to read ANCHOR as something which is rooted TREE in his past and which could also involve a female STORK Queen of Hearts friend DOG.

UPDATE:  In the above analysis I determined there was a hidden health issue which involved female(Stork, Queen of Cups). At the time of this reading my father was very much on my mind and in hindsight I think the Gentleman card represented him and not a male interest.

The LADY represents the female getting the reading.  The BOOK card touches both the LADY and GENTLEMAN cards and means there is something hidden from the lady which involves the male. As you can see the dark  CLOUDS are ahead of  her in the immediate future column. The King of Clubs is looking towards the LADY card and I want to read this as an imminent situation coming up.  The RIDER is bringing some news or circumstance into the LADY’s life real soon.  Maybe even within the next few days.  I can’t help but think the GENTLEMAN has a strong association with this.

Simple Trigger Layout -question from Lilith

Comment & Question from Lilith

Dear Josefa,
I can say that I’ve learned a lot from you and the trigger layout. A great spread that I use most often. Thank you for all the info you are giving out.
I have been using the Lenormand for sometime now and wish to share a spread with you hoping for some help. It gets me a bit confused.
General reading no question asked.
Cards fell as follows :
Snake+Heart+Ring+Lillies
Scythe+Lady+Gent+Moon
Ship+Stars+Tree+Storks

Even I wasn’t asking a question I am a bit preoccupied with the thought of a man that I had a relationship with long time ago.

For me this spread says that there is a good possibility that we end up together again but what confuses me is the Snake and the Storks cards. He lives with another woman at the moment ( that fits the description of the Stork) and I wonder if that commitment (Ring) is with me or foretells that they will end up married.

Since the Ring falls above the Gent and after the Snake card (which is pointing to another woman), but the Gent is falling right after me I keep getting confused. I really need your help to determine who this commitment refers to.

I suppose that the Stork here means a return of a former partner or at least changes regarding that person or me.

Dear Lilith:

Thank you for you comments and questions.  Glad you enjoy using the Trigger Layout. You have brought up some really good questions/observations and I would like to give you some feedback which I hope sheds a different perspective on the cards in this layout. My interpretation is for learning purposes & I encourage the readers of this post to submit their comments in relation to the cards you selected.

Position 5 Trigger – PAST COLUMN
– after experiencing the root or foundational influences of the position 1, you are faced with the aura of the experience in the Trigger position card.
Here you will find a person or situation.  This card is behind the YOU person meaning it is a significant circumstance.  One must analyze position 8 to find out the resulting reactions.

The Trigger Card in the past column is the SCYTHE card.  In the past you experienced or were exposed to the influence of the SNAKE card.  Traditionally, this card suggests another woman. The situation indicates a severing which has begun despite the fact this GENTLEMAN is living with the woman you mentioned fitting the description of the STORK.  The resulting influence of these two cards is represented by the SHIP card which suggests progress or movement in a specific direction.

Position YOU Trigger -NOW COLUMN
-this card is a little different in that it represents the person getting the reading, an absent representation for another individual or for the more advanced students of this system -a situation.
The reading will begin HERE.  Actually the Trigger row is read, PAST, YOU, IMMEDIATE and SOON.  I know this sounds confusing but it is not, it is common sense.   You need to know who YOU is to be to interpret the cards properly.

I started with the Past column since we know the YOU card is you. :) Above the LADY is the HEART card which suggests a love situation is very much on your mind. This card also shows that you are a very loving person with strong emotions. Beneath LADY lies the STARS card suggesting an experience of success. A very positive vibration with the STARS card.

Position 6 Trigger – IMMEDIATE COLUMN
-here the  YOU person is stepping into a scenario or circumstance within a few days or weeks (depending on the TIME you assign prior to shuffling).

The GENTLEMAN card follows LADY in the Trigger Row.  This mean you will see or talk to this man shortly after the reading was done. He is thinking of a situation involving commitment (RING). Note:  HEART, LADY, RING, GENTLEMAN is a tight box with no negative cards in between. This man is also somewhat attached to a situation which was already rooted (TREE) but will change based on the cards in the last column.

Position 7 Trigger- SOON COLUMN
- if the Trigger card is negative, what was thought to be a negative result (of the TRIGGER ROW cards)  will turn out good if the last card is positive.  The reverse is true as well.
The final TRIGGER position in the SOON COLUMN is a culmination of the cards in the TRIGGER ROW.
When you scan PAST, YOU, IMMEDIATE and SOON Trigger cards it holds  the answer in a nutshell.  If no question was asked, the cards revealed in this row will describe a situation you need to address whether you want to or not.

The final card in the Trigger row is the MOON.  This card suggests there is a strong female influence in the GENTLEMAN’s life which does not necessarily have to be the woman he is living with.  It could be a sister, mother, daughter or another female family member.  So how is the MOON’s influence the result/outcome in all of this? I want to read this card to mean anxiety or confused feelings because of memories of the past. (STORK beneath)

LILY points to solid family bonds, however, the STORK card is the last card in the layout which strongly suggests change as you mentioned.  The male in question does have a desire to escape (GENTLEMAN+MOON). Generally speaking the STORK brings the changes  of the card above or behind it. The STORK’s influence will uproot (TREE) the feelings (MOON) of certain past situations.  The GENTLEMAN will be re-assessing his feelings.

There is no indication of marriage within the time frame of this reading (1-3 months?).

Just a thought -I think someone from your past will re-enter your life who perhaps left abruptly (Jack of Diamonds, SHIP) and who you may have had a romantic connection. (Jack of Diamonds+HEART).

Feedback from Wulfie January 4, 2010.

I want to share with everyone a recent comment regarding a Tarot Celtic Cross reading interpretation I did.  Wulfie’s insights are truly helpful.

Here is the link to my interpretation.

The image below is the actual Celtic Cross Layout.

Celtic Cross. Dec 9, 2009

Comment:

I think you did a good reading. It’s hard to give totally accurate readings because so many things aren’t cut in stone. I took the reading in a whole different way. It starts out showing the two pentacles, making it clear the issue surrounds material concerns. The King and Queen sort of oppose each other, to me, in this case because the King has it together, the Queen does too but in a different way. The Queen’s about enjoying the fruits of her labor in creative ways. The King’s more about controlling what he’s earned. The 9 cups falls in the roots of the question, the driving force behind the question…which to me translate to the wish card being her WISH that she’ll get the job and that the interview went well. The next card is the 3 of cups, so we’ve moved from the material realm of pentacles into the arena of emotional cups. This card’s celebrating the wish card…kinda like counting your chickens before they’ve hatched, if you follow me? Now we get our first major arcana in
the form of the Emperor, this can sometimes be an alterative outcome card to the one in position 10. But the emperor is like the King of pentacle snd the King of swords…which are all control cards, and probably a male figure in the querents life, if not her more logical mind. Whoever it is and whether it’s an aspect of herself (like doubt or a bossy boy friend/husband, father/etc) it’s about control, logic, reason. The next card is another cup, the knight of cups so we’re back in the realm of emotions. But in this deck (Is it Robin Wood?) he’s facing AWAY from the central issue. To me that indicates he’s not supporting the materialism of the pentacles. Instead, he’s looking toward the emotions driving the need for materialims.

The next position is a sword card, we’ve entered the realm of thought. The energy here is of moving away from one thing to another unknown shore. To me this is the querents desire to move away from something and toward this new job and what she imagines it can provide her. Next we go to more cups, a happy card, often a family card of ease and pleasure, something all of us want and long for. So in some way she sees the new job as a way of securing this happy picture for herself and those closest to her. In the next position of hopes and fears, we run into another mental/thought sword in the grumpy knight. He’s pretty steadfast and unmoving, a sort of block to the desired outcome. This could be a male figure on the interview team or some male that gave a bad reference, whatever. But it’s a big block. Then in the final outcome position we get our second major arcana, Strength, which suggests that in order to get the job she’d needs to push for it, to show her strengths and ability to
balance herself among the emotional cards (which are her own emotions) and the interfering cards (which could be her own mind’s doubts but are more likely the doubts of others, say the interviewers)

To me the reading says she’s got a good chance of getting the job but that she misread the signals of it having been a good interview because she wants the job so badly in order to change her life circumstances. There’s also a suggestion that her emotions and blocking her from clear thinking and that the job isn’t really what she wants anyways. What she’d really love is something to do with creativity, not control.

Was the job related to a position of power where she’d be giving out orders? If so, it’s likely she’d rather have had a lower job and be the one putting projects together, creatively.

But that’s just my take on the cards. I’m sure there’s a million other ways to look at it too…especially AFTER the Fact.

Wulfie: THANK YOU for your interpretation

The Mini Celtic Cross reading

“Tarot of the Masters”  READING

Posted on October 10, 2008

The question posed is about the development of the Tarot Career of the creator of the Tarot of the Masters deck, James Ricklef.  I think that the mini Celtic cross will provide a short term answer and describe influences that can manifest over the next 3 months or so.

I do not think this layout will give a long range reading like the full 10 card Celtic cross.  Even if all the 10 cards were used the time frame is generally 6-8 months. If the Ace of Pentacles (a season card) were to appear, it would indicate the fall season of 2009.  In that case the reading can take up to a year to manifest.  Aces are also a starting point.

There are no Aces in this layout.  Does this mean there is no time frame involved?  My feeling on this is the starting points have already begun which involve the Cups and Wands suit cards. Cups and Wands amplify the energies belonging to these suits.  There is a lot of intellectual passion within James. There are no swords or pentacles within these 6 cards. It is obvious the rewards will come with minimal hardships.

The reading I will do is for learning purposes and I will interpret the imagery of the cards in relation to the general question.  I will try and avoid the traditional meanings of the cards up to a point.  It will be interesting to see how this reading unfolds.

Starting with Card 1, the 2 of wands -state of condition or emotional focus.

In the image of the card we see 2 wrestlers. What I find interesting in this card is the top of the head of one of the wrestlers.  A grey circle-subconscious knowledge. My feeling on this scene is this circle representing the head is an inner goal which will require some effort to maintain or balance.

If you really look at this card you can see the silhouette of a third being not fully formed in the center.  This form is new thoughts and ideas regarding James’ career direction.

He wants to move ahead and needs to open up the opportunities dictated to him by his gut feelings.  There is no room for doubt, now.

Job Question: misleading Tarot advice

QUESTION:  A client of mine wanted to know if she would secure a job she applied for.  This layout was done a day after her Interview.  The Interview went really well and she met all the qualifications required.

I gave her positive encouragement stating that most likely she would be offered the position within the next 3-4 weeks.  I based this interpretation on the Knight of Cups in spot 6 of the Celtic Cross which generally rules the immediate future.

The wish card (9 of Cups) fell in spot 5, the crowing card and it promised a ‘yes’ answer to her question.

The 10 of Cups in the 8th spot of ‘others’ suggested a happy outcome and that the panel of people who interviewed her for this job were pleased with her.

The last card, ‘outcome’  Strength showed no signs of a negative or disappointing result from her interview.

The crossing card, Queen of Pentacles, was financially positive depicting the opportunity the client would be employed.

The only card which could have been interpreted as a possible warning is card 9, the King of Swords which traditionally represents fears and hopes.  Often this card is also read as a pending influence which would manifest prior to the card 6 (Knight of Cups).

RESULT:  The client was NOT chosen for this job.

So what went wrong with this analysis.  I was quite disturbed that she did not get the job because the Reading was filled with promise.

We all have had experiences such as this one when we intrepret the cards to mean one thing and the opposite happens.  I am trying to look for clues within the cards which I overlooked or did not factor.  In all my 40+ years I never advised a client to a favourable answer unless I had many cards which suggested a positive answer.  I would rather say, ‘it looks like you will land the job however the cards are not 100% clear’.  At least this way the client is totally aware that quite possibly they may not get the job.

I studied card 7 which can represent the client’s attitude about the whole job question.  The 6 of Swords suggests she actually believed by securing this job she could move past some of her current financial hardships.  Her attitude was in the right place.

I am curious if anyone wishes to comment with  their insights into this Reading.  I would like to add these comments to share with others.   This is how we all learn – from each other.

Reviewing part of the Lenormand full board reading

I’m back from an outstanding vacation.

I did 2 readings before I left for the west coast.  One layout is with the French Cartomancy Lenormand and the other with the Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten.  I waited to post some of the results of these layouts as I wanted to give the readings some time to manifest.  As I review them now and knowing how certain events transpired in my own life I want to share my findings.  I, too, am interested in the accuracy of the cards.  :)

The first layout is with Lenormand deck.  When I did this reading I had no inkling or clue that I was about to travel thousands of miles to the coast of the Pacific Ocean.

Here is part of the full board.  The X represents me (Lady).

lenormandlayout

Starting with X-row  LADY + SHIP

At the time of this reading, a mere week prior to my trip I was puzzled by the 3 SHIP card because I knew it meant travel.  I interpreted the duo to mean that quite possibly I would be visited by a loved one HEART.  As it turned out I ended up taking a totally unexpected long trip to visit a loved one, a young man (24 HEART), my son.

The BIRDS cards in the same row indicates 2 of something.  It ended up being that I had a travelling companion as well. The fact that the 1 RIDER card is the last in this row clearly shows the events in process connected to the 28 GENTLEMAN card which also represents my son.  The reason for this is because (at the time of the reading) there was no significant other male that I could of identified to the card.  Of course, this has changed over the last 3 weeks, lol, which brings me to the point of the RIDER + 9 BOUQUET combination.  This duo shows gifts coming from a male.  However, the RIDER is near the 14 FOX card as well which usually warns of some hidden or secret influences.  I like to read FOX as a protective energy as well and this card can mean something simple as selfish energy surrounding this male.    Yes,  the GENTLEMAN has 2 roles in this reading.

Sometimes the Lenormand cards combined actually suggest some very simple and easy meanings which are so obvious that they are sometimes missed.  For example:  21 MOUNTAINS +  4 HOUSE.   I stayed at someone’s home which was surrounded  my mountains and forests. (5 TREE)

(X column) LADY + DOG

Here we have a friend who is somewhat of a karmic influence (36 CROSS- past column).  The 15 BEAR card following the DOG shows a powerful connection.  The fact that COFFIN is next to the HEART card implies the opportunity for an emotional situation to take a different direction which leads straight to the GENTLEMAN card ending the row in the last column.  I think this situation will still unfold and is in the beginning stages of development (COFFIN).

The next few cards I want to address is the 2 CLOVER + 27 LETTER (X Column, last card)  + 7 SNAKE.  The CLOVER bring a quick and unexpected opportunity which came about through correspondence/communication (LETTER) involving a female (SNAKE).  The 32 MOON card pointed to ‘motherly issues’.  I thought at the time I initially read these cards that I would be involved in a family situation (30 LILY) and that I was but not in the way I expected.

As I look back over the events going on the last week of August 2009 I must admit this is spot on.  The female involved was my daughter who at the time was experiencing a major transformation (17 STORK above SNAKE). And yes, a family situation developed (LILY), I was reunited with both my children.

11 WHIP

The very last card in this layout is the WHIP coupled with the 5 TREE.  I don’t believe the entire reading has come to pass yet but some major situations did.  It would be nearly impossible to assume that this layout only covered 3 weeks because based on past experience I know that different levels of each card manifest over time.

Coming up next:

The Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten reveals news of a death during my vacation which was not precisely clear in the Lenormand layout…………..

additional thoughts on 10 of Wands

Today, when I was scanning the cards from the last post which held the 10 of WANDS in position 8 something else came to my mind.

I saw our Veronica in place of the gent in the image.  I saw the 10 wands to mean Experiences & Skills.  After some more meditation on this card I felt strongly that Veronica was carrying all these Experiences & Skills she possessed thus far forward on the path to a brand new opportunity.

10 of WANDS

10 of WANDS

She is very qualified in specialized areas of work.  This card does not have to mean not seeing what is ahead of you because you are carrying your burdens in such a manner that they block your view of what is awaiting you down the road.  The red tunic covers Veronica.  Wands represent FIRE energy and the color RED is known to indicate ACTION.

Veronica may not see the road ahead of her during her current situation but this card is in the OTHERS spot. I am identifying the town in the background to represent OTHERS.  This resonates with me much more than OTHERS presenting obstacles.  One of the reasons for this is the SUN card to the left suggesting an AFFIRMATIVE outcome within the next several months.

These additional thoughts were triggered just as I was planning to write a post on some Lenormand combinations using some of more challenging cards to merge.   I will continue with the Lenormand in an upcoming post.

Tarot Celtic

It’s time for another reading for Veronica, a regular contributor of  some of the posts involving her teeter totter cycle of maintaining a job.  This situation has become nearly mainstream for many people these days.

Her recent situation has put her out of a job, again.  Veronica is concerned about her future particularly in securing some work as she has made a large purchase which means she must meet her monthly payment or else…she could have this item repossessed.  Unfortunately, she did not think she needed additional insurance in the event her financial situation changes drastically, which it did without too much warning.

Below is the Tarot Celtic cross illustrating the Robin Wood deck to demonstrate this reading and it is used to display the magnificent artwork of Ms. Wood.  The image is quite small with the positions being labelled as well as the card names.

I will focus on the card combinations and how they apply to the positions rather than taking each position separately.

The question is:  will Veronica find another job before her next payment is due.  A great test for the cards as we can look back on this reading to determine  if the Tarot provided guidance in accordance with the actual outcome.  The date involved is Sept 30, 2009.

1aug14Cross

When I saw the 4 majors appear out of the 10 Tarot I felt Veronica was on the receiving end of much more than just losing her job.  These majors, HIGH PRIESTESS, SUN, JUDGEMENT and HERMIT hold very powerful energy as do most majors.  She  is lucky to have this energy in the reading no matter what challenging minors appear.

The HIGH PRIESTESS representing the situation depicts energy or information which is not revealed yet in this situation. She does not know everything which makes sense.  The crossing card 6 CUPS combined with the HIGH PRIESTESS tells me her luck will come from a past situation perhaps a former employee or previous set of skills she has overlooked.  As a crossing card this energy is favorable and suggests a profound clue that Veronica will find herself in familiar surroundings once again.

With the HERMIT as the outcome, individual of silent counsel and reminder of going within Veronica will without a doubt follow her own intuition in this process.  The HERMIT does not provide a yes or no answer but the SUN card in the 6th spot of COMING influences does.  In the immediate months the SUN card is a definite yes that some opportunity is heading her way.

As the SELF card, JUDGEMENT reveals a completion.  The end of a process with a renewal – a rebirth.  Veronica seems to be experiencing an awakening with a re-inventing happening within her.  She has learned a lot and will build on those aspects of herself.

The PASSING King of Swords clearly shows a situation in which there is no control over the circumstances.  The decision was made by those in authority and there is nothing she can do but experience what was.  It will pass.  In fact, this has toughened her up.

The TO UNFOLD position which crowns the layout reveal the 3 of PENTACLES. A work card.  It is different than the 8 of PENTACLES, the root of question, the base card.  The 8 shows the question is about working.  The 3 suggest an experienced person.  This means a job will come which she will know how to do or at least partly. The OTHERS spot (card 8) hold the 10 of WANDS,  a responsibility card.  Because the SUN and 3 of PENTACLES point to employment I am not going to read the 10 as a difficulty card even though it is associated with heaviness.  I feel this means a demanding work load.

In the HOPES and FEARS spot 9 we have the 9 of wands.  This card is one of strength despite the odds of securing a job.  It is both a fear and hope.  Veronica hopes she has enough energy to move forward even though there could be stiff competition.  She also fears opposition and because she is tired of fighting.

Finally, back to the HERMIT card.  What is he saying?  How is he answering the question?  What is his guidance?  This card is sometimes tough to interpret without saying the same old thing about looking back to what it took her to get to this point.  It doesn’t matter what it took her to lose her job.  That does not solve anything because she didn’t lose her job because she was a bad employee. It was cut backs.

The more I study the HERMIT I notice the lantern is shining in the direction of the 3 of PENTACLES. This is what Veronica should be looking back to.  Mastery of her own skills and abilities and the confidence which comes with that.

All in all, the reading is amazingly encouraging.

Gipsy Cards confirm dream of death

I was inspired to pull out my Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten deck (GIPSY Cards) after recalled a dream I had last night which disturbed me.  I think this deck is one of the most challenging to learn because it tests your interpretation skills to the limit.  It take a lot of time to master these cards and reading the full board takes years and years of practice.  People shy away from systems which are too complicated.  One great thing about the GIPSY cards is that they contribute to the development of true Cartomancy whether you are psychic or not.  I don’t think this deck was intended for depth reading, it’s suited more for fortune telling.  You can assign spiritual levels to each card as some European Readers did but consistency is important.

In my dream, I became aware there was a death of something or someone.  As the dream progressed it became evident it was a person.  My main theme of this dream was that I was not connected by anyone to inform me.  I pointed out all the ways I could be reached.  I remember saying I had a work number with a direct extension which could have been used.  I was quite upset in my dream because I did not get the news during or prior to this death.

The image below is half of the full board reading I did for myself.  I don’t think what lies in my past is relevant for the purpose of seeking guidance from the cards which fall in the current column (SWEETHEART with the X) and the immediate/intermediate future influences.

I was surprised to see DEATH as the last card in the top row where the SWEETHEART (representing me) lies.  On the other hand I expected something to show up in relation to the dream as this is what was on my mind at the time of the shuffle.

1ZIG

NOW column:  There is an X on this card so that you can easily locate it.  In the column lies MARRIAGE, FORTUNE and ECCLESIASTIC.

What is approaching over the next several days or week.  I can understand the significance of the MARRIAGE card to represent some sort of agreement or commitment.  No, I am not getting married soon :) but I could hear about someone’s wedding plans because the ECCLESIASTIC is nearby.  The FORTUNE card shows this news as being favorable and I would be quite happy about the announcement.

In all honesty, the news of a marriage doesn’t make sense yet because I am not aware of anyone who is even considering this type of union.  Of course, the cards know more than I do on a conscious level.

I am in the midst of some negotiations involving a business venture and I can’t seem to fit the ECCLESIASTIC into that theme.  It might come to me as I study the reading a bit further.

IMMEDIATE Column- this column is beside the SWEETHEART (card with X).  I have named it such because it’s not distant future or past.  The cards contained here are, LETTER, JEALOUSY, MERRIMENT and MESSAGE.

Communication is coming, either in written form (emails, letters, etc) which will contribute to further messages (MESSAGE) being delivered.  The JEALOUSY card reveals a situation which will involve a person on the side line, someone who perhaps is opposed to the announcement of this news.

NEAR FUTURE Column – the last and final column holds the following cards starting at the top with DEATH, THIEF, OFFICER and BABY.

Note, when reading the columns you must not be too rigid in interpretation because when you read the rows a completely different theme could be revealed as is in this case.  It’s easier to read the rows as we read sentences  from left to right in a good portion of the world.  We are trained in this way that is why systems which go right to left or counter clockwise as an astrology chart  pose a minor challenge which is easily overcome.

Just looking at the DEATH card without blending the LETTER with it we know there is an ending.  We do not know much more as there a no more cards in that row but we do contributing cards in the remainder of the column.

The feeling I’m getting is that a transition is coming.  Transitions are not always bad, in fact, sometimes they are necessary so that you can move on.  I want to read DEATH and THIEF to mean actual news of a death because of my dream.  This was on my mind when I did the layout and this is what I want more clarification on.  I could have asked the TAROT but I wanted to experience the Zigeuner Wahrsagekarten for a change.

UPDATE Oct 8, 2009:  this interpretation ended up manifesting in the death of a former in-law

The THIEF card is obvious and suggests loss. The OFFICER would represent an official or legal matter. It could be a policeman or someone who is in a position of authority.  As I glance at the row preceding the OFFICER  the two cards, FORTUNE and MERRIMENT give me no reason to think a misfortune would occur.

UPDATE October 8, 2009:  the news of the death made the local newspaper as the male went missing while fishing.  He drowned.

BABY falling as the last card in the last column and row could offer some hope as a new direction beginning. BABY also represents responsibilities or being responsible for some aspect of a situation or person.

BABY can also represent children.  The cards preceding BABY show all positive energy.  Could there be a youth involved in this news?

UPDATE October 8, 2009:  there were children involved, 3 of them who created a fantastic slide show of their father.

LETTER and DEATH – my feeling on this duo is that I will be notified of the death/ending of a situation or person even a lifestyle direction.  This situation would involve some unfairness (THIEF).  Death is viewed as unfair in many cases by those who are left behind.  There could be a failure of plans.

UPDATE October 8, 2009:    Yes on all counts.

The majority of the cards are excellent.  I hope I don’t hear about a death.  :(

UPDATE October 8, 2009:   I heard of a tragic  passing on September 10

Asking the Mythic Tarot

I have been hearing more and more stories about the endless worry regarding work situations. It is a time of uncertainty for many people who once thought their jobs were secure only to find out their company is downsizing, laying off or completely eliminating positions in the workplace.

I had a question tonight about the future of a female’s role in a very large organization. No matter how large or small the company is,  no one seems to escape the decisions made by employers these days. Many individuals have thought about self employment in areas – they almost have not choice but to consider such an option.

In the reading below, I am using the Mythic Tarot from 1986 (Juliet Sharman-Burke). The cards are used to illustrate  the probabilities of the question posed and for their unique artwork. Sometimes when we use a different deck we can invoke different psychic interpretations.  I am using the traditional Celtic Cross with a few other words for the positions but essentially they are the same.

FEMALE PJ asked the following question  ”what is the advice of the Tarot around my job”?

The Mythic Tarot

The Mythic Tarot

I won’t get into too much detail about the 10 positions but enough to offer some simple suggested meanings.  Also, there is some great mythological background to this deck which I will skim over for the purpose of keeping this reading straight and simple. I do want to mention there are 2 MAJOR ARCANA.  Two very important powerful cards. Seeing them I already know there is much power at the disposal of PJ whether she realizes it or not.   The HIGH PRIESTESS & the MAGICIAN.  More on them when their positions come up.

1. CURRENT SITUATION:  what is on PJ’s mind at the time of shuffle.

7 CUPS: No surprise here.  Lots on her mind and we can see the energy is scattered.  Despite all that a decision will have to be made to channel this energy in one direction. Without even getting into the Reading we can safely say PJ is thinking about all the things that could happen and all the things that won’t happen.

2. CROSSING: depicts the type of Energy which surrounds the question.

10 WANDS: this cards does suggest hard work is ahead of PJ.  This could mean she won’t have to worry about not having a job. She may have way too much to do. The rest of the reading will unfold more information.  She must remember to maintain her physical, intellectual and emotional limits over the next 3-4 months for sure.

3.  REASON FOR QUESTION: why do we ask questions?  To ask a question about one’s job suggests some fears associated with the question, like, possibly losing that job.  Often people are thinking of changing  jobs and need advice if things will work out.

HIGH PRIESTESS: it’s a gut feeling propelling  PJ to ask this question.  She is sensing some changes and the fact that 7 CUPS was the first card confirms her job is on her mind, or at least one of the more major things weighing down on her.  The HIGH PRIESTESS suggests PJ needs more than just the security of the job, she needs to be the recipient of the Priestess’ teachings. Money doesn’t always quench your thirst or satisfy the hunger in your soul

4. PAST: this position is still activate but not as prominent.  It it on the verge of a transition which will end up being the COMING card (right of center).

3 CUPS: the way I want to read this great little card is that her peace of mind will change.  This card talks about little worry associated with anything.  This state is in the process of leaving. It’s tough to see serene periods in one’s life ending.

6. COMING: I place a time frame of 6-8 weeks for this spot.  You can pre-determine your positions before the shuffle but it is best not to change them too often when reading for others.  I see this as an experience PJ will be stepping into.

8 WANDS: who could complain about this cards. It is filled with the promise of goals being within reach with regards to her job. I don’t know all the details of her question & I don’t need to know to do the reading. My hunch is she is asking a very specific question.  Here is a perfect example of what happens to the  7 CUPS theme when a ‘direction’ is pursued.  In all likelihood, PJ will receive some news from the King of Cups (THEM Spot).  At this point I want to mention that not all that appears to be grand is grand.  I am only saying this because the 9 WANDS is looming up above.

5. FUTURE: I’m calling this spot future.  The card’s energy might be experienced and it might not be.  It all depends on what PJ does during the 8 WANDS period of time.  Let’s suppose she choses a direction that she is not fully aware of.  Remember to always factor the CROSSING CARD.  The 10 of WANDS is indicating she will bite off more than she can chew, so to speak.

9 WANDS: looking at this card and scanning over the rest of the reading I notice there are 3 – 8 cards in the layout.  This is good energy, balanced with an inner strength.  PJ has got some real stamina akin to the STRENGTH Major Arcana.  Also, the 9 WANDS belongs to the FIRE suit as do all the wands.  The energy of the FIRE suit is action in various degrees.  In this card, the suggestion is PJ will have enough ambition and resolve to attain certain goals. There is still some ‘fight’ in this gal.

7. ATTITUDE: here we will find out how PJ feels about her question.  A Major Arcana sitting here suggests there is more behind the scenes than meets the eye.

MAGICIAN: this is a very good card to have in this spot for it reveals PJ can do anything she wants and she has the power of the Universe to back her up.  All she has to do is focus on her goal related to her job. She can manifest whatever she concentrates on. It is important that PJ use the powerful energy of the MAGICIAN to be very clear about the direction she wishes to go in relation to her work question.  This card is telling her she can master whatever she needs to by tapping into the clear focus which is very different from the 7 CUPS.

8. THEM:  this spot rules the employer or another significant situation which would influence her question.

KING CUPS: this male is will be very helpful to PJ.  Is this her current boss?  Usually leaders of organizations are not cup kings, however, in this case a very compassionate man will be on her side. Since the KING CUPS oversees the emotional realm, it could also indicate an understanding male who would not harm PJ if at all possible.

9.  EMOTIONS: hopes and fear are degrees of emotions.  If you tap into the fear aspect of the card sitting here, you are afraid it will come true even if it is a positive cards.  Sometimes people cannot accept the blessing which happen in life and are so used to problems that it is hard to accept something good.  If you tap into the hope aspect of the card you are hoping a good card’s energy unfolds.  Many reader see this spot as a situation which is pending prior to the RESULT or OUTCOME.

8 SWORDS: PJ is hoping she doesn’t get into a situation or have to make a decision out of desperation or because she thinks she has no other choice. PJ is fearing entrapment involving her job. Taking the CROSSING CARD into consideration circumstances may arise where there is a ‘catch’ or a ‘string’ to any further developments on her job.  For example, we give you this and that but we take away this and that. Notice this is the first sword belonging to the Air element. This means most of the dilemma is in her mind.

10.  RESULT: and the final card which should sum everything up.  If PJ makes decisions in accordance to her and everyone else’s highest could she will experience the final card.  If card #10 is positive she must carefully study the steps towards getting there.  If the last card was negative, there is still time to make changes by following the advice of CARD 2 Crossing, CARD 6 Coming and CARD 7 Attitude. If the final card is a Major Arcana it is the Universe’s way of telling you that what is in the highest good of all is one of those Lessons of Karma (if you believe in it).

8 PENTACLES: first pentacle of the layout belonging to the earth element.  This is great.  It indicates the potential of growth, the opportunity to experience results and have something to show for it.  The last card is a card of working, learning, and studying.

In relation to her question, the Tarot is suggesting PJ will continue to work.  There could be some changes brought about which involve more responsibilities (10 WANDS crossing). She will be able to handle just about anything (9 WANDS future) (Magician attitude).  PJ will have connections with an important male KING CUPS who is connected to some work she will continue to do.

In the very near future (COMING) she will make up her mind about 1 specific area associated to her job.

column 6 & 7

GENTLEMAN, MOUSE, LETTER, WHIP
ANCHOR, CLOVER, GARDEN, HOUSE

As I stated in the last post, the ANCHOR does represent some type of job security which could be at risk (MOUSE).

Actually, if the person doing the reading was a male, the GENTLEMAN card would represent him and the reading would commence from this point reading cards to the left (past) and right (future).

In our example, the GENTLEMAN refers to male who is closely connected to the LADY and involved in the news of the RIDER. Yes it seems the theme is around some work. Often work is not a job per say but actual effort which is applied to a project, goal or situation.

This male is observing some possible losses (MOUSE) which can be revealed by a letter (LETTER) coming to someone’s home (HOUSE) affecting more than 1 person (GARDEN). Whatever this loss is it will not last long (CLOVER). However, as we see in the next column, the information could be hard to take (CROSS). I want to read the WHIP to indicate a restless or edgy mood within the household as well.

column 8 & 9

BOUQUET, FOX, CROSS, TREE
MOUNTAIN, SCYTHE, RING, KEY

The last two columns seem to have troubling cards. No set time was chosen for this reading. You can do that even if it is a full board layout. Think about how many words there are in one paragraph. Usually a paragraph described one particular train of thought.

I get the feeling BOUQUET may be result for the GENTLEMAN but he will have much responsibility ahead of him. The fact that SCYTHE is beneath the MOUNTAIN (responsibility) card I want to read this to mean ‘cutting’ through difficulties.

Often FOX suggests a work situation as well over and above the sneaky adjectives we use with this card. :) Coupled with the SCYTHE card and it being the last in the same row as the LADY I think she will become a real tough negotiator no matter what happens. She won’t mince words.

The RING is about cycles and it suggest contracts, plans which involve other people, renewals etc. The very last card hold much promise (KEY) despite the appearance of the SYTHE and MOUNTAIN cards in the last column of the future.

I am drawn to HOUSE and TREE for a second as I look at the layout and feel there is a health problem which will reoccur. As you know, when you really get into a reading and allow your own intuition to come through you will notice certain cards standing out. This means you should not discount your gut feeling.

An answer or outcome (KEY) awaits the LADY. The KEY does not have to be just 1 answer it can be many. It looks like other doors of opportunity will open and the LADY will branch out (TREE) into other situations which most likely were not familiar to her on the day of the reading.

Note: several things have already happened based on the feedback I received & it’s only been 9 days.

Full board Lenormand tutorial

The full board Lenormand tutorial reading takes a long time to master.  In the image I have numbered the rows and columns for easier referencing.  The reading will be done with simple interpretations of the cards.  This does not mean the combinations could not suggest other possibilities other than the ones I am detailing.

Locate the Lady card in row 2, column 2.  Reading for a female.  May 24/09.

column 2 & 3

BOOK, LADY, HEART, SHIP

LILY, BEAR, FISH, PATH

This female is thinking about something which is not very clear at the moment.  She seems to be processing some information from the recent past  which may have tainted  CLOUDS her perception. The BOOK faces to the right which indicates more will be revealed soon and it is about a family matter LILY.

On the day of the reading or within a day or so, the female  is actually thinking of being with a loved one HEARTS who is at a distance SHIP.  She will get news of a decision involving travel. She could also take a short trip locally.  The longer plans to travel will be within the next few months as the STARS follows PATH.

HEART + FISH also suggest a longing for something which is near and dear to the female.

column 3 & 4

LILY, BEAR, FISH, PATH

STORK, SNAKE, BIRDS, STARS

The lady is staring right at BEAR and this card’s influence will be felt within the next few days. BEAR can also describe her empowered personality as well.  There is an important money matter FISH + BEAR which she will experience which contributes to a decision she will be involved in.  Maybe she wants a relative SNAKE to go with her as well.

column 4 & 5

STORK, SNAKE, BIRDS, STARS

CHILD, RIDER, COFFIN, SUN

There will be some changes around a family member LILY which will be revealed within a “2″ BIRDS.  These cards also mean an opportunity for some attention STARS involving a situation of a public nature BIRDS.   In fact news is coming RIDER in relation to this.

A project STARS will run into some problems COFFIN due to the loss MOUSE of job security ANCHOR, however, I do not see this as long term.  There is the potential of growth TREE.

When reading columns and rows don’t forget to read diagonally from the card which you want more information on.  I took the STARS card and read COFFIN, MOUSE, ANCHOR to get additional data.

another reading for Case Study- Veronica

One of the more regular readings that appear in the Ask my Cards blog involves Veronica. Often when you do readings you may never get any feedback from the person but not in her case.

I will be illustrating how to interpret 6 cards using a layout found  on page 120 in Lady Lorelei’s book, “Tarot Life Planner”.  I really like this book because she includes many layouts in the back of the book which can apply to different aspects going on in your life. You can design your own layout quite easily if  you wish.

This particular layout is perfect to do on Veronica because she is experiencing many doubts right now with the way the economy is and her inability to secure steady employment.

The image below does not depict any images of cards just the names.  When you do this layout remove the Magician card before you shuffle. The reason for this is because the Magician card represents manifestation and offers all the tools you need.

1Lady Lorelei

WHERE DOES VERONICA NEED MORE PERSONAL POWER?

The 3 cards below show 3 different areas or ways Veronica needs more personal power.

KING OF CUPS - This King is comfortable with his feelings.  Veronica needs to tap into the power of this King and activate her emotions about things in her life.  She is experiencing a deadened approach right now.  She says she feels nothing and is having difficulty getting excited about things in general.

TWO OF SWORDS - A card of nothing.  A stalemate and little movement of energy.  This card suggests lack of decision making and the lack of intellectual commitment.  The advice of this card is to take off the blindfold,  get out there and set some goals.  Veronica can only empower herself if she takes some risks and begins making some decisions (which she is not currently).  She is doing it to herself.

12 HANGED MAN - A great teacher card.  The Hanged Man indicates Veronica needs an attitude adjustment.  A little change in perspective  would be helpful.  This major arcana card is the only one in the reading besides the Magician and he is there to bring power to the remaining cards.  Like the old saying, “get off the cross I need the wood” comes to mind.  She can hang upside down forever if she wants but to gain more personal power Veronica needs to do something…anything.

HOW CAN VERONICA OBTAIN THIS POWER?

The 3 cards in the bottom row reveal solutions and guidance she should consider to overcome the first 3 cards.

4  OF WANDS- A person can have plenty of balance in their life but it does not necessarily mean it is positive.  The 4 of wands clearly suggests Veronica needs to free herself of the emotional restrictions (King of Cups), needs to make decisions (2 of Swords) and needs to quit feeling sorry for herself (The Hanged Man) through self imposed suffering.

KNIGHT OF WANDS- Another wand.  We know wands are all about putting things into action.  The Knight of Wands is proclaiming the time has come to leave any situation which is holding Veronica back.  It’s time to saddle up and get passionate about life.  One of the solutions is to act now, not tomorrow or next week.

6 OF PENTACLES- How can Veronica obtain her personal power through the suggestions of this card?  She needs to concentrate on what she has already accomplished and give herself a little more credit.  It’s time Veronica shares her emotions (King of Cups), participates in goal setting (2 of Swords) and gives other people advice on why they shouldn’t just hang around and watch life go by. (The Hanged Man)

WILL VERONICA REGAIN HER PERSONAL POWER?

By following the advice of the Tarot cards – ABSOLUTELY.

2 Wands, 1 Pentacle- Time to jump into action & experience the personal power

Interpreting the Mystical Lenormand trio reading

I received a message from a client who was recently shocked by some news she received from her employer.  Without telling me much details about what was going on she asked me do a short reading to see what the cards revealed.  I decided to use the Mystical Lenormand to answer her question.  I chose the  3 cards below.  Her question was whether this work change would benefit her.

Card 1- the recent past. #7  The Snake.

Queen of Clubs

Queen of Clubs

I really like the art on this card.  The snake comes across as being regal.  Notice the golden egg.  Something will be hatched soon.  The news my client received is contained within this egg.  The protective energy of the snake can be misinterpreted as deceptive.  It is shielding or hiding the golden egg. In the background we can see the sun and moon indicating Karmic balance. In the upper right hand corner is the glyph for Scorpio- the stinging news.

Card 2 – current situation.  #11 The Whip.

Jack of Clubs

Jack of Clubs

The man in the image has a big club and a whip.  The client’s experience is like getting an emotional beating from the news she just received.  You will notice several religious symbols in the background suggesting faith is under scrutiny.  I think this card is portrayed in a rather spooky manner with the bat flying by.  There are many wonderful symbols you can study in this card.  It is a very emotional depiction.  Probably the client feels like someone just dropped a bomb on her.  The Whip card is all about being forced or coerced into a situation.  It suggests being ticked off and ready to fight or argue.

Card 3 – the probable outcome.  #14 The Fox

FOX

FOX

A wonderful image of a fox.  Look at him taking a drink of water.  He looks after himself even though he has a bad reputation. The reflection of the fox in the pond suggests emotional duality.  A type of deception.  It looks like the snow is melting in the background which points to more information coming to the client.  How will the client benefit from this news with the Fox being the outcome card?  I feel that the fox is preparing for an attack and that is why he needs to replenish himself with the water.  This card is a warning for the client.  She is dealing with an unscrupulous situation or person.  The client could empower herself by using the Fox energy to fight against the news.

Often the Fox card is read to represent work not necessarily the job per se.  It means to work at something or to work something out.  As a solution card, I think the client will need to makes changes. She should  explore the opportunities which lay beyond the trees.  The mountains suggest there is hope beyond this current situation.

The Fox does not kill for fun – it kills out of need. This card means that even if she finds herself in the midst of someone else’s underhanded activities it is part of working for a corporation. When I say underhanded I mean usually changes come without warning or preparation.  And yes it sure feels underhanded when it happens.
