Mini Celtic using Gypsy Bijou Lenormand

.Gypsy Bijou Lenormand style cards.

.Mini Celtic Cross.

It’s time for a reading according to Veronica (regular posts on her work situations).  The question asked today is whether or not Veronica’s contractual position will be extended.  Veronica’s work history is based on renewals of her work positions and much depends on funding.

I decided to use a Mini Celtic cross to get a snapshot view of the energy surrounding Veronica in relation to her work question.  I didn’t think it was necessary to do a full 10 card Celtic cross reading because you can get a pretty good idea using the center cross of the larger layout.

It is not always necessary to do full board layouts using the Lenormand style cards & basic layouts work just as good.  The deck in the image has short meanings right on the card (in English) and it is a great deck for a person who is just learning Cartomancy.

Card 1 – The Heart 24

“All lovers will be happy when they see this heart.”

As the center card which describes what is on Veronica’s mind/question we can see that it would be something near and dear to her, ie. emotional attachment to her job.

Card 2 – The Bouquet 9

“A fine bouquet of flowers brings success and sunny hours.”

As the crossing card which gives an indication of the opportunities or hindrances in relation to Veronica’s question we can see ‘good’ energy surrounds the process.

Card 3 – The Bear 15

“The bear says ‘Think before speaking to the jealous if you would escape from them.”

As the foundation card, lying beneath #24 it is obvious that Veronica has some rivals in her work environment.  The Bear card is very powerful.  She is in a high profile role and under tremendous scrutiny due to the observations of her coworkers and authority figures. This is common when you work by contract. It seems she has to prove her worth every step of the way.  If she slacks off – her contract may not be renewed even if there is funding.

Card 4 – The Lady 29

“This lady, by her position, can command all the rest of the cards by a single gesture.”

As the passing card but still active, the Lady card represents Veronica.  Interestingly, the little phrase on the card is very true.  Veronica can make or break her chances of renewing the contract.  The responsibility is very much on her shoulders.  I get a good feeling so far about the reading.

Card 5 – The Rider 1

“Open the door quickly to this fine horseman who brings good news from abroad.”

As the potential future card, there is definitely some news coming Veronica’s way.  The Rider card is above #24 The Heart, they are touching which means it is also read as a combination.  This duo promises a pleasing result which will make her very happy.   So far, so good.

Card 6 – The Ship 3

“A ship predicts riches, inheritance, a voyage”

As the immediate future card, and to the right of the Heart card 24, it is certainly a good sign.  The Ship card could mean travel but it is not within the scope of the job Veronica is doing.  It can be something else, too, that will generate some income for her.

In relation to the original question the Ship #3 is a blessed influence which can only mean ‘yes’ to the contract being renewed.

With the Heart card - a romantic weekend, lover at a distance, fondness for travel.  Is Veronica going to meet someone through work?  There is a hint – the Bear card can represent a loving and protective man.

The Rider and Ship cards combined do indicate news coming from a distance.  There is more within this Mini Celtic cross than the answer to the work question.

When you analyze the crossing card (the Bouquet 9) with the final card, there is a hint of Veronica receiving a surprising answer which she did not anticipate.

All in all, the cards are favorable and there is every indication the contract will be renewed.

17 The Stork- Lenormand style cards

17 The Stork

Stork cards from 4 different decks.

Oracolo Lenormand. Gypsy Bijou fortune telling cards.

Cartomanzia Francese.  Old Gypsy fortune telling cards.

One of the themes: CHANGE

The positioning of the Stork cards in the layout is important.  Stepping into traditional trappings, many readers of the Lenormand cards believe that the card to the LEFT or ABOVE the Stork is the representation of what that change will be. I have mentioned this point when I have written about the Stork card before.

To demonstrate this point I will offer examples using duo combinations.  Keep in mind that the card following the Stork will reveal the result or outcome of the duo and that is included as well using the same duo.

CLOUDS + STORK= the changes which occur bring disharmony and an unsettled change

STORK + CLOUDS = the result of the change ends up being a huge disappointment

TOWER + S =  a recent separation has been experienced and this will no doubt create change

S + TOWER = the outcome leads to a catastrophe leading to a parting of ways

MOUSE + S = the change was a slow process but ended up happening

S + MOUSE = the change most likely will not happen so don’t hold your breath

GARDEN + S = through a public event a new contact is made and this leads to a pleasant change provided that the third card (following the Stork) is positive

S + GARDEN = whatever the change was or why it happened leads to the connections with the public or a specific “new” person

COFFIN + S = a change which is hard to accept or understand

S + COFFIN = the changes experienced recently lead to a dead end

RIDER + S = a welcome change which is a result of some message or because of a person

S + RIDER = more change is on it’s way because you haven’t got all the facts about a situation or person

KEY + S = good change happens because there is some sort of security involved

S + KEY = regardless of the changes the result brings a solution or a secure answer

SCYTHE + S = a warning not to instigate any changes and if they manifest you are left with your head spinning wondering just what the heck happened

S + SCYTHE = maybe it’s for the best any changes come to a complete halt because it just isn’t working out

RING + S =  a great improvement in a relationship which is a long overdue change unless the following card is negative

S + RING = who cares what the changes were the outcome creates a situation with a full commitment

I have used only 1 theme  in this delineation process and there are many more; like using the court cards to represent a person.  Actually, a duo could give you at least 1 dozen possible reasonable interpretations.  If you were to step out of the traditional trappings, the sky is the limit.

Gypsy Bijou study reading

The Simple Elements Layout

CURRENT THOUGHTS – Card 24 The Heart

The card that falls in this spot will reveal to you where the energy of your thoughts is. It does not matter which  [way]you selected to do this reading.

The question of the study sample is supported by a very positive card.  #24 deals with an emotional attachment directly connected to the question.  If you were doing this reading for someone else you would know that they are thinking about something they love or about someone they love.  People have feelings of love for different things.  The energy of the person’s thoughts point to a situation that is very important and they really, really want it.

YOUR FEELINGS – Card 9 The Bouquet.

The second card will expose the emotions going on.  The feelings can range.

#9 brings additional strength and reinforcement to the first card.  The feelings of happiness around this person getting the reading suggests a very positive emotional pattern.  Traditionally, the bouquet or flowers suggests a gift of some type.  Gifts come in many ways and gifts are not always wrapped up in a pretty bow.  When interpreting this card it is important to remember that even though it is highly positive, utilizing it’s positive energy will require input and a continued good outlook towards any situation.

So far we know the person is thinking about something near and dear to their heart.  Their emotions are equally charged up in this direction.  The next step is to look at the plan of action and how are they going to “act” (next card) on this which will lead to the possible result or outcome (last card).

You can desire, think or yearn all you want but you need to back it up with action.  Sure many situations are not totally in your control but if you do not try, you will always wonder “what if”.

PLAN OF ACTION – #15 The Bear.

The card that has been placed here will provide options or a suggestive energy to apply directly connected to cards #1 & #2. This is what you should do.  Depending on which card falls here, a way to the solution will be shown.  If you see a card of inaction and you do not change that then do not be surprised if the result in card #4 is negative or not to your liking.  Of course there are times when no action is the best course but you will have to intuitively determine that yourself.

#15 is a powerful card filled with action energy.  It has been given the meanings of “jealousy” as well in relation to flaunting you achievements.  Greatness does not come in bragging.  There is every indication within the Bear card that good fortune can be achieved through application of force.  This force IS NOT by coercion.  It is an inner strength.  At this point you should be suggesting to the person getting the reading done that in order to benefit from a new situation (last card Child) a firm plan of action is necessary.

The person is in an excellent position in relation to their question or thoughts.  Any action taken backed by pure intention coupled with positive emotions will surely lead them to the outcome they want.

WHAT CAN HAPPEN - #13 The Child

The last card is the result, outcome or probable solution.  Here you will find what happens when you apply action coupled with emotions regarding something on your mind.  The previous cards will be very beneficial to you because within each card is a promise for success regardless if initially it appears negative.  You have a choice in most areas of your life.  This card will show you the by-product of your efforts.

#13 in the last spot promises advancement.  Yes a new beginning or a situation in it’s preliminary stage. The Child suggests that the person has not reached their full potential yet. The fact that Bear has made it’s appearance in the action spot of the Simple Elements layout means they will come into their power and succeed in whatever it was they wanted to have or do.

Despite the fact that there are only 4 cards in this layout, you really do have to think about what the cards mean in the positions.  It is a great exercise in expanding your awareness and perhaps taking the meanings into completely different directions.

I did not factor the court cards into this study reading because the Gypsy Bijou fortune telling deck does not have them.  This does not mean you should omit them.  You can still add them to get another dimension to the reading.

Traditional is good. Exploratory is exciting.  :)

Gypsy Bijou in Layout

I haven’t played with the Gypsy Bijou fortune telling cards by Minetta for quite awhile.  I really like this deck. It was manufactured in 1969 and the cards are in astoundingly good condition for their age and the quality of the card stock.

This deck has been nicknamed “Gypsy Cards” which is confusing because the

Bruno Bieri deck (1994) is named the Tziganes Lenormand which translates to Gypsy Lenormand.  Also, the Ziguener Wahrsagekarten deck is called the “true legend gipsy deck but it is spelled GIPSY.

The Gypsy Bijou deck does not have the inset of the the playing card but it does have  a general meaning right on the card.  The meaning is in English and it does not come in any sort of rhyme -it is direct and to the point. Some of the cards have a few combo meanings as well.

If you are a beginner it will save you time looking up the meanings.  If you are a seasoned reader these meanings will remind you of the spirit of each card.

In the study layout following this introductory post I will use the Simple Elements layout consisting of only 4 cards to demonstrate this reading.  I decided to upload the Simple Elements layout instructions to the SCRIBD website for easier download in PDF format.   You can also find it under the tab under the Ask my Cards header called Simple Layouts* as well as the Simple Trigger layout.

Rider, Stork, Tower

The 1969 Gypsy Bijou fortune telling cards that I own which is seen in the image were originally published in 1910 by Foulsham & Co., London England.

The Lenormand style cards have the meanings written on them, are numbered but do not contain the inserts of the standard playing cards on them.

It is a great little deck as you learn the process of “reading”. As with most of the Lenormand decks the traditional meanings are the same with the exception of additional information that is created by the person reading the cards. The combinations tend to be common-sense derivatives. The only time you get a spectacular combination is when you actually have a vision or hear a message via inner sight and inner voice that is significant to the person getting the reading. And that would have to be right on. For example, telling them they will move into a house that has a house number of 1257 or telling them they will be involved with a person named Frank or Melissa (when they currently don’t know anyone with that name that they would be romantically interested in). Now that’s what I call -good and these types of predictions can happen.

The cards below are #1 Rider, #17 Stork, #19 Tower
eleven.jpg

We all know the Rider brings messages of all kinds that are usually on there way. In this deck the Rider faces to the left. The way I want to read this is any message or news that does come will be connected to the distant past not as in decades gone by but as in longevity (going on for quite some time or part of a continuous situation or problem).

The Stork is all about changes and movement. These 2 cards empower each other because they are both about the energy of information coming towards us whether we want it or not. Of course if you don’t pick up the phone, retrieve your E-messages or converse with anyone – it may not happen…..then…..but it will. If the news is heading your way it will arrive in such as way that you don’t expect. A surprise.

The Stork is the KNIGHT of the Tarot

- coming and going of a matter bringing change. The Stork faces the Tower card and has it’s back to the Rider and the horse. Whether this makes any difference or not can only be determined after the fact.

The Tower is interpreted as a separation or long life (health), depends which meanings you want to use. It can represent a large building (stork and tower can point to a medical building). Today, when I observe the Stork and Tower cards together I get the feeling of changes within the physical body. The Rider in that case would be medical news coming that will bring information pertaining to a health issue.

Some other combinations- change of plans, visiting a professional building, sudden arrival or departure rooted in the news or message received, emotional withdrawal

When you look at a stork, it doesn’t move around a lot. It just stands there unlike a chicken. This tells me that the change that is foretold by the Stork card will happen with great speed. When the symbolism of the actual stork bird was put on these cards, you have to remember that is was in the mid 1800′s and there would be only certain species of storks popular in Europe.

Isn’t that part of Europe where the myth of the stork bringing babies originated from?

Cute, real cute

The Gypsy Bijou Fortune Telling Cards belong to the Madame Lenormand family. The deck I am speaking of is dated 1969 and I recently purchased it from Alota Stuff Collectables (Maryland). The original deck was published in 1910 by Foulsham & Co., London England.

The only difference is that #8 is the broken mirror instead of the coffin and #21 is the rock instead of the mountain.

8-21.jpg
Also there are no playing cards inserted in the background and that’s were the description is placed.

There are brief meanings on the cards in English, which makes it easier to study. I would highly recommend this deck for the beginner. The visual images are recorded by the subconscious and remembered. When you reproduce the card in your mind, you will also see the brief written description.
