Madame Dora’s fortune telling cards

What a cute fortune-telling system by Lynn Lott, Rick Naymark and Jane Nelson.

Madame Dora’s set includes 50 cards with characters we can relate to. Each card has a special message right on it. A further explanation can be found in the accompanying 155 page book. The cards are really easy to find in the book because they are in alphabetical order. I really like the color scheme and size of these cards.

Just for fun I did a one card draw.  Humble Harriet was selected at random from the shuffled deck.

Madame Dora’s fortune telling cards

Humble Harriet says,

“Don’t put yourself above everyone else”.

The one statement which stands out from the accompanying book is that friends/people in high places are working behind the scenes on my behalf and to expect good things.  I did have a very important question on my mind when I drew Humble Harriet.  Basically, the advice given is on behalf of someone else which will indirectly touch my life too.

I’m curious to see how the day will unfold according to Humble Harriet.

UPdate: Dec 22

Humble Harriet represented a medical situation.  My precious grandson went for his regular check up & I think the people in high places working behind the scenes would be the nurse & doc. It was all about what was in my grandson’s highest good (the check up).

The Transparent Oracle

I was thrilled to receive an early Christmas gift from my son this morning.  The Tansparent Oracle by Emily Carding.

The set includes 70 transparent circular oracle cards, the 128 page companion guidebook and a white reading cloth.

I am excited to try out my new toy (as I call all decks I haven’t got in my card collection) and will do a Reading in the next post.

Karma Cards- 3/5 card & book set from used bookstore

Earlier this year I found some real treasures at a used book store.  The Karma Cards set is one of those treasures.  The cards are illustrated by Linda Garland and the book is devised by Monte Farber.  The  36 cards and 96 page book cost me about $8. Well worth the price due to the mint condition.

The Karma cards are divided into 3 sets.  *12 Planets. 12 Signs. 12 Houses.

The way to use this deck is to arrange 3 piles according to the sets above*.  The Planet cards have a violet border. The Signs cards have a gold border. The Houses have a turquoise border.  Each pile is shuffled separately until you get the feeling to stop and at the same time you think of your question.  My question:  What is it I should know at this time?

Next: Turn over the top card in each pile.  After you have selected the 3 individual cards read the panels according to what type of advice you seek.  Taken from page 17 of the book, “what you should do about a situation – red panel”, want to know the outcome of a situation-blue panel, and so on”.  You can do just 1 card draw Reading as well.

The cards have 3 levels of interpretation.  S- SPIRITUAL, M- MATERIAL, P- PHYSICAL. They can be read upright and in a reversed position depending how you shuffle each pile.

Note: each panel has part of a sentence. When you read across the 3 cards you  end up having a sentence.   :)

Below are the cards I selected.

THE NORTH NODE. IN CAPRICORN. IN 8TH HOUSE

THE NORTH NODE IN CAPRICORN IN 8TH HOUSE.

SPIRITUAL ADVICE: There will be dedication to achieve personal power.

MATERIAL ADVICE: Success from focusing on the mysteries of Life.

PHYSICAL ADVICE: Benefit resulting from the rules imposed by a major change.

Pretty cool Reading.

My next few posts will feature The Transparent Oracle by Emily Carding.  An early Christmas gift en route from my #1 son.

Symbolon guidance

Magician. Caring. Matter & Spirit.

…Every once in awhile I pick up the Symbolon deck to seek guidance when other card systems aren’t up for the task. Excuse the poor quality of the image…

After all the excitement which occurred over the last 3 days I found myself thinking about my parents tonight especially after I dreamt of dad last night. Too bad mom and dad aren’t here in human form to share the joy of meeting Baby Connor.
I’m in one of those moods – soul searching & looking for answers relating to my parent’s sudden departure within the last 6 months.  I don’t know what answers I think the Symbolon cards will tell me but I know I will learn something.
As I shuffled I asked, “what is it I am suppose to learn from the death of my parents in such a short time”.

Position 1:  Magician (found on page 52 LWB)

The Problem or Issue:  Apparently I’m under some kind of spell.  My own magical powers will return from the past despite the fact I may feel like a victim of  a “sacrifice”.  There seems to be some chains I need to release which are holding me back. That all makes sense so far.  I need to come into my own power and let go of some of the chains of memory.  This does not mean to forget my parents this means to live life according to my own standards.

Postion 2:  Caring (found on page 40 LWB)

Awesome advice from the booklet.  The way through this spot I am in and the questioning I’m doing is to take care of myself. To look after my own emotional well-being.  Being predisposed to taking on the role of a caregiver I gave my time & energy to others more than to myself.

Position 3:  Matter & Spirit (page 70 LWB)

From this final card I should be able to find the guidance I am seeking.  Many times this last card tells you something you would rather not hear.  Advice never seems to be sugar coated in this deck.

This card could be interpreted to be a business.  That really makes a lot sense as well because I had a number of projects on hold like the handbook I’m writing and new website with services/products.  The little white books speaks of Spiritual Creations.  That fits in, too.

I think it is important to read each card in all three position to gain a better understanding of the cards’ meanings.

My understanding of the Matter & Spirit card is that when you move to another spiritual level of development you lose ‘something’ or ‘someone’ in the process.  This can be viewed as a lesson.  The greater the Spiritual leap the greater the lesson.

The death of 2 parents is a mighty high price to pay (suggested in last card) to move up the ladder of Spiritual enlightenment. Most of us are aware the highly enlightened are also highly detached to experience and memories.

Symbolon cards reveal different perspective

I asked the Symbolon cards to reveal a different perspective regarding mom’s death.  The question I had in mind was this. What is it I am to learn from my mother’s death? There are obvious answers to this question but sometimes the cards, especially the Symbolon deck, shed a very profound message. This self-reading is part of my healing process.
The image below is the 3 card layout used in the LWB.  The Symbolon deck is illustrated in this post for it’s creative beauty and to demonstrate how the cards answer questions which often cannot be answered by the Tarot or other oracle cards.

Matter&Spirit*The Magician*Caring

Position 1: The Problem
MATTER AND SPIRIT – Puzzling description in the LWB as this card can represent a new age business.
Quote: “…the spiritual property which you carry does not really belong to you.  It has not yet begun the journey through the soul.”
I’ll have to meditate on this message a little further. Perhaps there is a clue to a direction I will take in the future which I cannot comprehend at this time.
Position 2: Way Through the Problem
THE MAGICIAN – A lot of time invested in conception and it is time for a sacrifice which will release the blocked energy within me.  Positive thinking.  Black and white magic.
In relation to the problem card I get the feeling I am suppose to carry through with some ideas I’ve had which have been put on a shelf temporarily.  Is my mother’s death a trigger to moving ahead with these ideas?
Position 3: The Outcome
CARING – some keywords for this card are sympathy, grief and caring. I can relate to the ‘helper syndrome’ phrase because in my spiritual work this is what I do – help others.
Quote: ” …mother/child relationship has been restored within you.”
This card gives me the message that I will take a real look at myself and my role as a caregiver. If this is the outcome then maybe I need to focus on a spiritual service which assist others through a similar journey.
SUMMARY:  The card which represented the problem position points to issues with the ego.  I really need to think through this MATTER & SPIRIT card and how it relates to the whole reading.  If the MAGICIAN card represents the vehicle of transmutation then it is within me to rise above my mom’s death so that I can perhaps focus on being a stronger force in my own relationship with my daughter and son.  Grandma is gone and my kids were extremely close to her.
The MAGICIAN card’s energy is the key to this whole reading.  Was my mom sacrificed for a reason unbeknown to me at this time.  Are my children involved?  I will ask another question in a different way to get more clarification on this reading.

Medicine Card BAT offers guidance

I decided to ask the Medicine Cards ( Jamie Sams & David Carson) expanded version for some guidance today.  I wasn’t really thinking of anything in particular and had hoped the card I selected would reveal where I’m at on a spiritual, emotional and intellectual level.

The card I drew is BAT. This card is in the expanded version published 1999 and in the original version 1988.  The image below is offered to demonstrate my personal journey of mourning my mother’s death.  I’d like to share my findings with you.

BAT - REBIRTH

The following is a quote from the accompanying book.

“Sacred Bat…flew to me,

From the darkness of the cave.

Womb-like reflections,

Answers it gave.

Birth, death, rebirth,

Cycles of the whole…

Never-ending, just eclipsed,

The journey of the soul.”

I had the privilege of meeting David Carson in 2006 at the Just for the Health of It Prophets Conference in Vancouver, Canada.  I stood in a long line to get his book, “Crossing into Medicine Country” autographed.

If you want to purchase the deck/book please contact The Discovery of Power Through The Ways of Animals.

THE BAT:

The guidance seems to be spot on.  I am suppose to release some of way of life that will no longer fit into my growth.  I am to let go of old habits and prepare myself for rebirthing.  If I resist these changes which are a part of my destiny I will experience much pain and it will take a long time to rise above it.  This is so true when you are in a grieving process.

Interestingly, the bat hangs upside down in the cave much like the position of a baby ready to emerge from the mother’s womb into this world.

BAT is advising me to do something special by celebrating mom’s life and to wish her well in her new home.  A home which we will all visit one day. Mom’s birthday is on June 17th and what a perfect time to do a ‘I love you and I let you go’ meditation by her gravesite.  Sounds easy enough.  And maybe this is how I will unlock the door to my sadness…and transform it into strength.

Meanings of standard playing cards

I found the following videos on youtube which detail the meanings of the standard playing cards.  Part 2: sounds like a computer generated voice which cuts out often before completing the meaning of the individual cards but good nevertheless.  Part 1: an overview of the suits and better audio.

Asking Druid Animal Oracle

One of the great characteristic of being born with Moon in Scorpio is the need to get to the bottom of things through relentless investigation.  If you have read my blogs post you will know I use different card systems to ask the same question.  I haven’t written much about the Druid Animal Oracle but I do use it quite often.

The Deck consists of 33 oversized cards which are not easy to shuffle even if you have large hands and the accompanying 176 page book.  There is a very nice divination cloth included as well.  I was very fortunate to have found this set at a second hand book store about 12 years ago as part of an estate sale.  Needless to say I was very excited at finding this treasure created by Philip and Stephanie Carr-Gomm because at that time I was searching for non-Tarot related items.

I will be using the simple 3 card layout found in the back of the book called the Truine Spread.  I was not  sure what Truine meant other than getting the sense it was related to Truth so I did a google search and came up with it meaning a Trinity (3 in one).  I think this is an excellent name for the layout and more is explained in the book.

These cards are breathtaking and are displayed for their beauty as well as to ask the question, “will I find my lost ring”.  I am experimenting with this system to see what the Animal Medicine reveals.

1DRUID

SITUATION:  BLACKBIRD

The Druid Dhubh is telling me to be more aware of my question. It is a card of healing and discovering the responsibilities of both worlds.  The feeling I get around this card is there is a time and  place for everything.

If BLACKBIRD represents my question or the process of trying to locate the ring, it’s medicine revealing to go within and to pay attention to my dreams.

EMOTIONAL EFFECT:  BOAR

The second card is to represent emotional responses connected to my question.  Oh, I like the meaning of this card. Torc can induce the warrior spirit which to me means, setting a goal and going after it.  There is a wild power to this card which suggests not giving up and to quite possibly look for the ring in places which would be totally unique.

If one where to go into the forest there is a good chance many critters would appear which are not a normal viewing of the daily life.

To me, BOAR’s medicine is to look in the areas which are not common.

TANGIBLE RESULT:  SALMON

The last card should be answering my question.  Interesting.  Salmon return to their birthplace to mate.

Bradan’s medicine suggests to be open without my ego getting in the way.  It’s about going back to the beginning, the origin of my initial steps regarding the lost ring.  As I said before my recollection is having the ring in my hand and placing somewhere within a room.  I see myself reaching.  This does not mean it would still be in the spot where I know subconsciously it is.  The reason I say this is because at that time there were other people in the household which could have moved the item, but not known their was a ring in the item/container/bag.

In the image the salmon is reaching for the hazelnut while jumping out of the sacred pool (water).  Hazelnuts are usually kept in a kitchen or near baking items.

I don’t see a direct answer in this card with the exception that I need to re-trace my footsteps with a new intention. From my subconscious jumps a clue which will lead me back to the source.

BOAR and SALMON are offering two types of medicine which are not in unity.  BOAR is about the warrior within and SALMON is about the path of return.  I think that there needs to be a tempering of my need and the result will be one of the obvious.

Asking the Symbolon’s advice

I decided to do a different type of reading regarding the lost ring.  Of course, I will use a deck of cards and I thought it would be quite interesting to see what the SYMBOLON oracle has to reveal.

In the image are the 3 cards selected, with the cards and positions labelled for easier understanding.  I have had some startling readings with this deck as I’m sure you have if you own this deck.

1symbolon1

As you may know the cards do not have names on them but you can locate the cards in the back of the LWB by carefully studying them as they are not that easy to identify. Once you find your card there is a page number you can look up for the meanings and explanations of what the cards mean in the designated positions.

I will do a traditional reading but add my own insights which I get from the images or my Inner Voice.

The Question:  why do I have the need to find the lost ring?

CARD 1 – GRAIL.  This card is supposed to reveal the problem.

Well isn’t that a slap in the face.  The advice of this card is that I am asking the wrong question :) .   The Grail tells me I will run around in circles trying to figure out why I have a need to find this lost ring.  Or does it mean running around in circles looking for it?  Interesting, eh.

Nothing like putting myself on the line by sharing this reading, however,  this blog is about learning.  I am suppose to ask a question which does not revolve around me.  As an afterthought, I could have asked, ‘what is the significance of finding the lost ring?”  I will continue with the remaining two cards and see what the Oracle speaks.

My own gut feeling on this is that I place a high value on the ring.  I see the ring surrounding the grail in the image.  Within the circle lies a mystery.  On the bottom of the card are slight waves which is linked to an emotional attachment.

CARD 2 – VANITY FAIR.  Originally in the image I had another name for this card but corrected when I got to this part. That’s why the name looks muddled.  The second card should reveal steps in solving my question.  The way I see this is the card is suppose to give me clues how to achieve or gain my answer.

Am I suppose to give myself some distance from trying to find the lost ring or the reasons behind my need?  The booklet indicates neither highs or lows in this process -rather a mundane procedure.

When I study the image on the card I get a sense of inaction.  Also, I feel as though I might not have an overwhelming experience even if I do find the lost ring.  The people in the image look bored, even the dog.

CARD 3 – MARIONETTE.  I can just image what this card means before I even look it up.      :)

The last card is to reveal the outcome, the result, the answer to the question posed.   It seems to me I got this card last year when I asked about relocation…& I did not relocate, yet.  (emotional strings perhaps)

Well I suppose this card could be deemed a good outcome.  It means I will free myself of the need to find the lost ring.  The lost ring will no longer control me (emotionally).  Wow, I like that.  I didn’t realize it did but I have been obsessing about it for a long, long, time.  The LWB suggests being possessed by something material.

In my own analysis of the MARIONETTE card I  get the gut feeling that I don’t need to find the lost ring, which was not even my question.  The need will be lifted. If and when I find the ring I will have removed any ‘strings’ attached to it, emotional strings that is.  And what if  I don’t like it anymore?        :)

Yesterday, I hunted high and low for the ring by using all the wonderful insights from the nice people who left comments.

For a split second, I remembered and began to head in another direction to where I was situated, only to forget before I got to where I was going.    The blockage is there for a reason.  I have a darn good memory – moon in scorpio.

Maybe I’m not to suppose to find the lost ring by actively looking for it as many commenters said.

19 Buffalo speak to All

I thought I would use the Medicine cards to do a 1 card draw.  The deck I am using is the expanded version witch contains 40 cards plus 9 blank cards.  These cards are very long and shuffling was done by mixing them up face down on the table and randomly picking one.  My thoughts were on the selection of card which will benefit all those who are reading this post.

Today’s Medicine

The card is shown to illustrate today’s post by  thanking Jamie Sams & David Carson for the great concept.

#19 Buffalo

#19 Buffalo

The Buffalo medicine is reminding us that our prayers are heard and there is a promise of fulfillment.  So far so good.

Buffalo also teaches to respect other people’s paths.  The path of some people involves hurting others. When you are a ‘sensitive’ it is quite easy to absorb other people’s energy into your aura which in turn weighs you down and contributes to you being tired.

Protecting yourself must become a part of your every day regime like combing your hair. Unfortunately psychic people forget to cast a circle around themselves and often end up carrying baggage of others.

Buffalo also suggests to ask the Divine to help or assist.  Who better to stand beside you during battles involving other people’s fears and ego.  Often these battles go on without us realizing them.  They are invisible.  It is energy attacking energy.

If you ever find yourself in a situation when you feeling some sort of psychic attack send it back to it’s rightful owner.  In your mind tell them, thank you but NO thank you.  Send it back.

The medicine of Buffalo is suggesting that we respect all forms of life and all types of energy which surrounds us.  The wisdom of Buffalo is knowing when to step out of the way …

Old Gypsy Fortune Telling cards layout

I had a question in the comments section from JEWEL about the laying of the Old Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards.

They are done pretty much the same as the traditional Lenormand & Sibilla style decks.

When using 36 cards you lay them out in one of these full board  layouts.

  1. 9 cards across, 4 rows.  Locate the card representing the male or female getting the reading done.  Read from that point. All cards to the left are past and all cards to the right are future.  See some of the other posts for more detailed information.
  2. 8 cards across, 4 rows, 4 cards in 5th row centered.  Do the same as above.  The 4 cards in the 5th row are to be read first because it will reveal a situation about a circumstance or person which is going on in the current time.  These cards will add more information to the cards above and below the significator.
  3. 8 cards across, 4 rows, 2 cards above first row centered and 2 cards beneath last row centered.  Much like method #2. Again these are read in a similar fashion.  The difference is all card located further away from the male/female significator cards are future and all cards in close proximity are events happening currently or very near future.  The 2 top and 2 bottom cards are read the same way in accordance with the positioning of the significator card.  Many readers do not read all 36 cards in this method because it is not known how far into the future the cards predict – it could be years.
