Probable versus Outcome

The Celtic cross is one of the more popular layouts to use when asking the Tarot for guidance to a specific question.  Actually, any deck of cards can be placed in this spread.

Card #5 (above card #1) has been long associated with the Potential future.  This card will reveal to you what “might” happen in regards to your question based on the action or lack of action represented by Card #6 (to the right of card #1),  not shown in image.

I used to read Card #5 as the Distant Future card and that means the development after the manifestation of the Outcome card #10. As always it is a personal choice and for that matter the core positions vary considerably as well in the laying of the cards. The Staff cards (7, 8, 9, 10) have stayed pretty much the same except card #9 which traditionally represented hopes/fears but can also be read to be the immediate influence leading to the Outcome.

Crossing Influence card #2 - Does this card contain positive free flowing energy or is the energy withheld, stagnant or less positive?   Card #2 will reveal your opportunities or challenges in reaching the “answer” in card #10 - the Outcome.

There are many factors to consider when interpreting the Celtic cross. I think what is important is to follow some sort of guideline that you feel the most comfortable with.  This does not mean you can’t change your interpretation of the positions in the Celtic cross when you do another reading.

Many readers, including myself believe that the cards will tell you what it is you need to know with respect to the question.  Sometimes the cards are way off and there is little sense to be made regarding the question.  In instances like this a more open approach is necessary such as a willingness to “look” at what you might be missing is so far as the lessons and principles of the cards, especially the Major Arcana.

*Often, it is not about what you are asking*

*it is about what you are not asking*

Interpretation of study layout…  …To Follow…

4 of Wands -  Crossing card

This card would definitely be a good one because it indicates a victory of sorts.  There will be reason to celebrate or to feel as though you have made great progress in achievements.

3 of Swords- Crowning card.  Probable future.

This card shows a disappointment in some respects but more on an intellectual level.  The ego gets a beating and it feels as though it hurts but if you look closely at the 3 of swords in the layout, there is no dripping blood to signify a deep wound.  It is raining in the background and this can mean something might come up temporarily to create a setback.

When analyzing this position- card #6 should be studied.  The reason for this is because the 3 of swords is the result of the pending imminent circumstances which could lead to the manifestation of the disappointment.

You can avert or bypass many situations by taking the advice of the cards especially if they appear negative in nature.  However, there is a thing called destiny.  And much of destiny is rooted in your subconscious.

9 of Pentacles - Outcome

Who wouldn’t want this as a result?  It implies abundance. When you have more than you can handle you can become emotionally attached to those “things”.  There is a strong suggestion that there will be a promising financially linked result.

One important thing to remember is that even though the 3 of swords may come to pass it is only the stage before you step into the garden of abundance.  Many times in life a huge setback is not understood at the time but months later it all makes sense.   :)

The 9 of Pentacles is about relying on yourself.  There is both a positive and negative connotation to the previous statement.  Does this mean help from others is not forthcoming? Does it mean that you will have to count on just yourself?

The crossing card shows a happy outcome but something will probably come up (3 of swords) that looks like a goal may not be achieved in the way one wants.  All indication is by the last card that the goal will be reached within the time frame designated prior to the laying of the cards.

What else could the 9 of pentacles suggest?

The lady holds a  falcon.  Symbolically, this bird represents visions and wisdom. How badly do you want your goal?   The falcon has the reputation of one pointed focus & thus can kill at command.  How far will you go to get what you want? The lady in the garden did not get this garden by pure chance, she worked very hard (8 of pentacles previous card) and she had to learn many tools of the trade so to speak.  It all boils down to  life-tools.

The 9 of pentacles in it’s highest expression is all about  getting what you want.

glimpse at past celtic reading

.The Tarot Reading was laid out in April and I will review some of the cards to determine how they manifested. It has been nearly 2 months and since the Celtic cross was done. The purpose of this post is to explore the cards in direct reference to what has already come to pass for the person - female D.

.The cards in the image belong to the Robin Wood deck. They are shown to demonstrate this particular reading and to display the beauty of the art work.

.This is one of my more regular decks that I use but I only use it when the person has a totally direct question, such as in this case.

.The question is, “will I find a new job?”  It seems this type of question is ever so popular these days and the index of change in career or jobs is very high.  Some of this could be because people stay at jobs out of pure financial necessity and  become completely unhappy as time goes on.  I think that much of this unhappiness stems from within and the job merely reflects the state of mind or attitude of the person. It does boil down to addressing one’s self worth…. and that is whole other topic to write about  :)

.There are 2 cards that stand out in this reading.  The last card Queen of Swords, the crowing card 10 of Swords and maybe the (hopes and fears spot) The Moon.

.Note: Female D was unemployed at the time of the reading.  Before I continue, I will say that the question was answered within 1 lunar month of this layout.  Female D is now working at a new job.

.The only card that would give any indication that the answer is “yes” to her question is the 9 of Cups in the 8th spot.  This spot would represent the employer who hired her.  It does not describe the employer but the card does grant D.’s wish.  After all, it is the wish card.  How lucky is that!

.Traditionally, the Queen of Swords is not the best card in position 10 representing the outcome.  After reviewing the cards I came to the conclusion that the associated meanings of this queen do mean responsibility and taking thing seriously.  Accepting a new job is a responsibility and usually the person is very serious at the beginning when they are getting trained.

.The Queen also suggested that D. will be in a position of much “intellectual” or “mental” pressure which she can handle.  The Queen of Swords has tough skin.

.The crowning card (10 of swords) is suppose to represent the probable future and what could have happened.  I don’t always read card 5 like this but in this case I did because I wanted to point out how important it was to learn and put into practical practice the lessons of card 6, The Chariot.

.I have detailed the Chariot in another post by saying.

The CHARIOT card suggests mastery over emotions.  The balancing of a situation that could at any given moment be out of complete control. When I see this card in position #1 I know the person is relying heavily on “faith”. It does no good to whip conditions into submission and obedience because those same conditions can carry you down a road you are not prepared to go on.

.In this reading the Chariot is not in position 1 but the same “meaning” applied to position 6.  It was important for D. to remain centered during her job search and through the disappointments she experienced by getting rejections or received absolutely no responses to resume that she sent out.

.I’m not going in any particular order of post-interpreting this reading because I want to target the significant cards.

.Card 2- Page of Pentacles and Card 7- 8 of Pentacles are good indicators of learning a new job or skills. This was an evident clue that a new job was coming.

.The 10 of swords in position 5 shows what could have manifested if D. lost control of the horses (emotions, drive, focus) in the Chariot card.  This is not to say that this card’s traditional meaning (defeat) is not looming somewhere in the future.  It is a card of intellectual defeat or predicts a danger of information overload.

.Why did I add another card beside the Queen of Swords?  Well, mainly because I wanted to know more about the Queen card. Was she to represent D., a friend or a  foe?  Or did she depict personality traits?

.TWO of CUPs confirmed the the negotiation of the new job.  The Queen also represented the female employer who hammered out the details surrounding the new job. She was a woman with great authority who was very business minded.    It was a mutually agreed decision.

And what about the Moon card?  I use the Moon as a time marker - 1 lunar month. I think it is vital for D. not to let her imagination get the better of her because what looks good on the surface could … lead to the development of the 10 of swords. In other words, D. needs to remain positive and to be very careful of her attitude towards her new job.  Now is not the time to fear, doubt, or be insecure regarding her potential and natural skills.

Overview of Tarot

Celtic Cross - Radiant Tarot

I want to share some insights regarding some of the cards in the Celtic cross layout.  Overall, this reading is filled with higher energy cards.  There are 5 major arcana which indicates external forces at work.  This means that the reading is not geared towards mundane situations even though a mundane question may have been asked.

When there is a preponderance of Majors the suggestion is that “lessons” need to be learned.  The teachings of the Keys are targeting your inner world.

I look at the Majors as TRIGGER cards somewhat similar to the Simple Trigger Layout.

The image below is the central part of the Celtic cross. I will be focusing on the Chariot, World, Ace of Wands and Sun cards. In the upper left image you can see all of the cards, including the 4 of Cups as the result/outcome to the readings.

Position 1- CHARIOT.  The 1st spot describes the aura around the question or the current energies surrounding the person.  It can reveal their current state of mind.

Position 2- WORLD. The card of completion. An ending of the cycle of a situation or emotional attitude. Traditionally this card means freedom of mundane worry.  There is also balance within this card.  The 4 corner display symbols of the elements.  As the crossing card, the World will lend a positive influence to the remaining cards.  Even though the 4 of cups is the last card, symbolically the “4″ indicates emotional balance despite the image of the bored male sitting under a tree contemplating the cups.

Position 6 - ACE of WANDS.  The beginning of action.  In this spot the released energy from the single wand will be experienced because of the energy (lessons) emitted from the CHARIOT and WORLD cards. The new birth will come through the Ace.  A new direction is necessary because the emotional power of the CHARIOT cannot be contained much longer.  You can only control things for so long.  Unfortunately much energy is expended when you try and control, even your own self. It should be as effortless as the figure within the wreath in the WORLD card.

TIMING.  When an Ace falls in the 6th spot it is a very good indicator of the time frame for the entire reading. It would be about 13 weeks - a season.

Some readers use the 10th card to determine the time.  The 4 of Cups would be the 4th week into the summer.  If the Ace of Wands represents the spring, then it would make sense to say that 13 weeks + 4 weeks would be the more precise time frame. Within 17 weeks.

Position 8 - SUN.  This is the “yes” card.  No matter where the teachings of the SUN card fall you can expect an uplifting experience.  Notice that the 4 of Swords is in the 7th spot. Another card of balance, this time on the intellectual plane.  A card of meditative thinking.  What has begun in the Ace will require some quiet contemplation.  The knight will awaken due to the warm rays of the sun. It is a sign that the new beginning will be surrounded by wholesome happiness.

Generally this spot is to represent the environment or other people’s thoughts.  In this reading, I see it as the next step in the development of the person getting the reading.  There is purity in the seeds of a new beginning.  There is hope.

The Magician in position 9 will pick up the wand of the Ace and create all the circumstances which will eventually lead to the completion (WORLD) of the situation that is facing the person getting the reading done (CHARIOT).

Where does the 4 of cups fit into all of this?  As an outcome card it does suggest a similar reevaluation process as depicted in the 4 of swords.  I see the Wand of the Ace as the tree which supports the man. There are choices ahead of him and no matter what he chooses, the lessons of the WORLD card will come to pass.  The person getting the reading will have the rays of the sun instead of the lightning of the TOWER card to experience the ending of one particular cycle which can involve a situation or an inner process.

Follow up on previous reading.

Below you will see part of a Tarot reading from the February 10/08  entry involving Veronica.

This post is a follow up to  the original question, “will Veronica go back to her previous work environment?”.  I can do this today because I have received confirmation as to the unfolding of this reading.  It is now approaching 3 months since this Tarot reading was done.  Today’s analysis of this reading is done in yellow. —————–> Continue reading ‘Follow up on previous reading.’

Tarot of the New Vision guidance

I tend to ask the same question (previous post) using several decks that are non related in system. I find it very interesting to compare the readings after a certain time has lapsed. My main curiosity is in the manifestation process and which deck provides the most accurate interpretation.

The interpretation is lengthy but it is done to demonstrate what goes through my mind when reading these cards. I am using the Tarot of the New Vision in the traditional Celtic cross layout. This deck gives a different artistic slant to the cards and induces other feelings when using just the imagery. ( & keeping the core meanings in mind). I have shown two separate images below, the center cross and the staff.

Also, I reverse 3 cards while I shuffle. In this layout position 8 holds the Reversal energy of the 7 of Wands.tarotfeb10a.jpg

card 1. 2 Pentacles- duality in a financial situation. As a situation card it would suggest a choice between working at 2 jobs, or between 2 jobs. Veronica is currently working for a company but is creatively stifled. In the image you can see the sheep grazing in the background, with a bird of prey looming close by in the sky.

card 2. 8 Pentacles- learning of new skills. As the challenge or opportunity card I see this definitely as a positive influence in relation to the original question of returning to a previous work environment. The cards gives me a feeling of creative expansion through honing skills. It shows what is possible to achieve once you learn how to use the tools of the trade. The nearly finished sculpture in the background is proof of that.

card 3. - 7 Cups- emotional confusion. As the basis or foundation of this reading the 7 of cups suggests Veronica is letting her imagination get the better of her. She is dreaming of all the possibilities before her, however her emotions are scattered into various directions. Actually she is overwhelmed by the questions in her mind. The two females in the image are hoping or are in an apprehensive state - this can symbolize the process Veronica is going through.

card 4. - Knight of Pentacles. What has just happened and is still in the activation state. There is a work or money related opportunity at the beginning stages. The ox in the image symbolizes a slow but persistent energy. Things are moving but not quickly. The knight on the horse is staring at the pentacle in his right hand and is dressed in full armor ready for a financial fight. He is in a “pause” stage while reviewing his plans. He is not about to rush into anything…………….. Continue reading ‘Tarot of the New Vision guidance’

Tarot Dame reviews Aquarian layout

NOTE: update Dec 25th- Thank you Tarot Dame for bringing to my attention the fact that the format-option is not working properly. I am not certain at this point why all paragraphs are lumped together. I have corrected other posts with a similar issue and there are quite a few more to do-
TAROT DAME’S insights of the December 2/07 Celtic Cross using the Aquarian deck. Thanks Tarot Dame.

1-2-aq.jpgThe Strength crossed by the 3 of Swords: (I have often seen the 3 of Swords come up in readings regarding surgery.) I read this coupling as indicating that his tough-guy exterior is being tested/put in check by the surgery, and may be a blessing in disguise, meant to soften him up. The “strength” of the swords being thrust into the heart: The swords (his exterior strength) disappear and become invisible for a time inside the heart (during the surgery and hospital stay he will be uncharacteristically vulnerable). Then they eventually come through on the other side. A thought that struck me from the way the 3 of Swords was laid out also: The sharp/extreme points of the swords (and corresponding aspects of his personality) are facing the left (the Past). The handles of the swords face right (future) which indicate that the strength/base is still there, along with some of the sword, but without the most extreme points. The way I would read this is that the surgery has the potential to ultimately soften his personality. A big wake up call.

3aq.jpgKing of Swords as Basis of Question: I read the King of Swords as representing Joe. For some reason, this coupled with the two cards above, I had the feeling this was close to his personality before reading your description of him. Obviously, I can see where it would represent the surgeon as well.4aq.jpg

4 of Pents as Passing Influence: I believe wholeheartedly that your emotional state causes either health or dis-ease in your body. So if he was under pressure financially, and I don’t mean lacking money, but rather facing stress/deadlines in regards to his career life, then I think that would have had a tremendous effect on his heart condition. It being a “passing” influence indicates that it needn’t be a permanent negative influence in his life…it’s something that is under his control, so in the future his stress can be managed, and it doesn’t need to affect his health again…IF he is able to realize this mind-body connection.

King of of Cups as Probable Future: Yes, I also saw this card as a softening of his personality, 5aq.jpgas I also saw the first two cards.6aq.jpg

7 of Wands as Immediate Future: Just by looking at the card image, I got the message that “It’s entirely in his hands”. His healing will largely depend on his own mind and belief in his ability to heal.7aq.jpg5 of Swords as Joe’s Attitude: I saw this as his expectations of recovery. This card indicates to me that yes, he expects to survive and get better. He doesn’t expect to die. However, he doesn’t optimistically envision a 100% complete recovery. I think he fears that his recovery will come at a cost of some sort…some part of himself may not ever get back to “normal”. Whether this is mental, emotional or physical, I don’t know.8aq.jpg

Temperance as External Influences: I don’t think this card implies that there is already a great balance of his environment, or else he wouldn’t be in the situation he’s in. I think he needs to become more aware of what surrounds him in his daily life, and apply moderation where needed. There are probably aspects of his life that are out of balance that he never noticed or gave thought to before. What got my attention in this card was the stark white face/wings compared to the darker colors. The “spiritual” side stood out to me more. Perhaps he needs more balance in that area of his life. And I don’t mean going to church every Sunday, zoning out, waiting for the service to be over. I mean a more personal aspect to it.

This, for a King of Swords type, may be a challenge, if he’s not already truly in tune (or comfortable) with his spiritual side.

Knight of Rods as Immediate Influence: Hopes and Fears: I saw this in a different light than you mentioned (though of course you were right, as the change of residence came to fruition.) I saw this card as representing his looking back at his youth and vigor. He’s basically being forced into a situation that has the polar opposite energy from the Knight of Rods. When stuck in such a place, people tend to think of what used to be, and what could be. The Knight of Rods is energetic, vibrant, young, healthy and active. I got the feeling that while he’s laying helpless in the hospital bed, the man in him is yearning for some aspects of this card back in his life.aq4.jpg

The Knight of Swords as Potential Future Outcome: Okay, what came to me right away when seeing this card wasn’t the traditional meaning of the card at all. The thing that sprung to mind was a demotion from his being the King of Swords to the Knight of Swords. I don’t know how far in the future you take the final outcome card to reflect. But in this situation, I saw this as his going from Top Dog (King of the World) to Someone With Something To Prove (Knight Battling to Recover). I saw this as being the next few months…and not years down the line.

A wonderful interpretation by Tarot Dame revealing her perception on this very important Tarot reading.

Asking Aquarian Tarot

I bought The Windows of Tarot written by F.D. Graves in 1973 aq-book.jpg at a time when few books were written about the cards. aq1.jpgThe Aquarian Tarot deck illustrations used in the book were created by David Palladini in 1970. As you can see my original box shows much wear & tear. This was the second deck of Tarot I bought after the famous Rider deck. The cards are in mint condition considering that they are nearly 38 years old.

If you get a chance to get a copy of this book it is well worth it. F.D. Graves describes in full the symbolic interpretation within the images of the Aquarian Tarot. In my opinion this book was a pioneer in the “new” way of reading the Tarot. David Palladini was one of the first artists to add his own unique blend of symbols in the traditional Tarot.

1973 The Windows of Tarot by F. D. Graves (Dobbs Ferry NY: Morgan & Morgan). (Illustrated with the Aquarian Tarot.) Light-weight.

1970 Aquarian Tarot published by Morgan Press, Dobbs Ferry, NY. Illustrated by David Mario Palladini. “An authentic interpretation of the medieval Tarot.” Palladini, when he was still a student, was one of the artists of the Linweave Tarot (1967).

I will be using the Aquarian Tarot to demonstrate the Celtic cross reading today.

QUESTION- what is the prognosis of “Joe” the family member who had open heart surgery Nov 29th?

aq2.jpg aq3.jpg

1-2-aq.jpg (image2) Cards #1 & #2. STRENGTH, 3 OF SWORDS.

STRENGTH is a powerful card to have in position #1. Leo is associated with this card and Leo rules the heart. How appropriate. What does it mean to have “strength”? The Aquarian card is very different from the usual connections to the lady with the lion as depicted by many other Tarot systems. Here we see a man ready for action. He is fully clothed in anticipation of a fight (symbolism of the sword in his right hand). We see the taming of the beast within (symbolized by the dog on the right side of the card). He holds the dog and has control of it. You almost get the feeling that if he lets go of the dog it will attack or at his command.

“Joe” the man who had the surgery a few days ago went into the operating room, ready for the fight- the fight for his life. This card suggests that Joe has reserve energy and power both in his body & mind. At this time balance is important for him - to keep his energy within control.

3 OF SWORDS as the crossing card. Is this card an opportunity or a challenge? When you look at the two cards in image2 you can see the struggle of emotions. This is a card of pain, mostly intellectual but it feels like emotional. When our ego gets pricked it hurts. I have written about the 3 of Swords in another post. It is almost eerie how the Aquarian Tarot is illustrating piercings in the heart when the actual situation involves the heart being operated on.

Does the 3 of Swords point to more problems ….?….involving the power/strength/energy of the STRENGTH card in position #1. Will the recovery process run into delays. Was the surgery a betrayal in that it will not help?

[UPDATE: JOE suffered a serious stroke Dec 6/07. There is a 17% chance of stroke in all open heart surgeries]

3aq.jpgCard 3 - King of Swords. BASIS OF QUESTION.

This King is known as the man in uniform and in this reading represents the surgeon. He is in command in his field of expertise- medicine. There are 2 Kings in the Celtic spread indicating a meeting between men…. other doctors. Also, in the past the personality of Joe was one of self sufficiency and he was a man to be reckoned with. He was not easily swayed and was firm in his opinions.

4aq.jpg Card 4 - 4 of Pentacles. PASSING INFLUENCE .

When you look at this card you can see 1 large pentacle covering the chest area which contains the heart. This card is known for it’s security/money connections. Joe had been preoccupied in a project that put additional stress on him both physically and materially. He is a builder of homes.

5aq.jpg Card 5 - King of Cups. PROBABLE FUTURE.

This King promises a softening of the King of Swords if it is used to represent Joe’s personality. His role as a father will come under serious focus. The King of Cups is traditionally the father card or issues around fatherhood. In some cases this King can be a counsellor or lawyer who has the person’s best interests at heart.

[UPDATE: Dec. 7th- Joe's role as a father has been severely challenged in that his prognosis is not promising due to the stroke]

6aq.jpg Card 6 - 7 of Wands. IMMEDIATE FUTURE

The card of advantage falls in the imminent future spot, usually within 1 month. Of Palladini’s image, F.D. Graves explains that the man is protecting the other 6 budding wands/rods with the one he is holding with both hands. This picture sheds a different angle on the typical scene where the man is opposed by the staffs. This card can be a challenge but shows the person holding on to their position. For Joe, it means he will take responsibility for his recovery-

7aq.jpg Card 7 - 5 of Swords. JOE’S ATTITUDE.

In the spot of the attitude, one can see that a battle has been fought. The image illustrates a man with two swords against his shoulder while holding on to the one that appears to be in the ground. Joe has taken the information(swords) from what has occurred and is shouldering it. Also he is pondering on some other news(sword in ground). Two swords lay to the side of the man in the image. These 2 swords represent past thoughts and the figures in the background are aspects of Joe, the parts of him that were battling after receiving the news of the heart attack & pending open heart surgery and…. whether to agree to surgery or not.

8aq.jpg Card 8 - TEMPERANCE. EXTERNAL INFLUENCES.

A great card to have in position 8. The card of moderation. Tempering positive and negative influences. The image in the card is in perfect balance. There is a strong suggestion that Joe will slow down and make the appropriate modifications to promote further healing. Position 8 rules the environment and other people as well. It seems as though he will get co-operation during his time of adjustments.

aq4.jpg Cards 9 & 10. Knight of Rods (Wands) & Knight of Swords.

Two knights - a deal or some negotiations in planning….a legal situation. Both Knights face into the center of the layout. They look straight at the King of Cups. These men are communicating. Knights represent the need for action. There will be a legal situation that might arise. Legal things do not have to be bad, they can be helpful- like finding out your right to medicine, compensation for time off work, etc.

[UPDATE: Dec 7th- the doctors and nurses in conference after the stroke]

Card 9 - IMMEDIATE INFLUENCE. HOPES & FEARS.

The Knight of Rods/Wands strongly suggests a change in environment. There is speed involved in this matter or a decision. Could Joe be fearing that he will lose his home or business? He will not be able to return to work in the same capacity for a very long time but the Knight suggests that he will make an attempt.

[UPDATE:- Dec 7th- the change of residence was the re-admitting to the hospital]

Card 10 - POTENTIAL FUTURE. OUTCOME.

The Knight of Swords as the result card strongly suggests that the prognosis involving Joe will certainly demand that he defend his well being. It shows that Joe is not about to give up without a good fight. The Knight(Joe) is inexperienced in this type of battle (heart operation & recovery) but will risk his life to follow his King’s (surgeon)orders.

The only card that unsettles me is the 3 of Swords falling as the crossing #2 card. Is the operation a betrayal of hope?

[UPDATE: Dec 7th- the 3 of Swords left me with an uncomfortable feeling when I did this reading- yes the operation was a betrayal of hope because now Joe faces............ I really don't know yet and am very distraught at the news. PLEASE PRAY for Joe]

Cosmic Tarot outcome- Queen of Swords

The Cosmic deck is illustrated in appreciation of it’s beautiful images and to demonstrate the study case of this Celtic cross reading.

7. MY ROLE in this reading. 5 of Clubs.

7.jpg The image is playful. Great precision and focus is required when playing any sports just for fun so that you do not hurt anyone. Within this card I see a Chess Game between two people of similar strength. Known as a card of competition it suggest the use of assertive efforts to maintain one’s position or to get the edge on someone. There are limits as suggested by the fence.

Yes I have limits in this situation too. It is not my place to go rushing off to the hospital to see this man. He is in the Intensive Cardiac Care unit and the rules are quite strict for visitors. The 5 of Wands tells me though I could playfully fight my way through the gates of the Iron Nurse standing guard.

There is a hint of anger in this card as well. The reason I say this is because the energy is channeled into a make belief fight -it uses the same type of energy as anger which propels you into action.

8. OTHERS. This spot represents the man in question. ACE of SWORDS.

Here we have a time card. The season of Autumn (Sept 21st). Libra.

8.jpg

This Ace is all about courage and strength of mind.

There are many positive qualities to the Ace of Swords. I think sometimes people forget that within every Tarot card is an equally opposite energy which is not always the Reversed meaning either. Worry is another meaning of this Ace and it connects well with the ACEspades.jpg. Aces are the seeds of the suit. The beginning of knowledge…. the beginning of pain…the beginning of struggles…etc

The Ace is about decisions. Many decisions require a hardened heart. It can mean a knife, scalpel or other sharp instrument used for cutting when other cards suggest hospitals and medical people involved.

8.jpg5.jpg

I have always read these two cards to mean a tragedy of some kind- in my lengthy experience of this duo. The interesting point is that here we have the beginning (Ace) of the end (Death) contained within the 10 cards used in the Celtic Cross.

[UPDATE: Dec 7th- Joe suffered a serious stroke]

Is there a hint in this duo?

9. ADVICE or HOPES/FEARS. 8 of SWORDS.

The image in the card suggests the feeling of being fenced in by the situation. The restriction is usually9.jpg self imposed through our own thoughts about how we see a circumstance. There are external influences which are depicted by the dark clouds in the background. Fear and the inability to move out of a situation are suggested. Sometimes all we can do is wait because we cannot control everything that seems to happen “to us”.

The card shows the two characters standing in water which symbolizes our emotions. They are not facing each other which means that aspects of our own personalities are divided and not in balance. As an advice card it indicates that outer events will prevent any movement in the situation in a short period of time. Since the Ace represent the Autumn months…it could take up until the 1st week of Winter because the direction of this situation can be seen- right before Christmas.[UPDATE: Dec 10th- after studying the 8 of Swords tonight and what I wrote it clearly describes what happens when a blood clot hits the left side of the brain. The personality is divided & not in balance. ]

9.jpg8.jpg These two cards point to an aggressive outburst. A situation that looks dormant is actually in the state of eruption- breaking out.

[Dec 7th -UPDATE:- outburst- the stroke Dec 6th, please sending healing prayers to Joe]

5.jpg9.jpgThese two cards suggest that there is nothing that can be done to avoid the transition or change that will be a result of the findings in this case study.

10.jpg

10. THE OUTCOME. The answer to the question. Queen of SWORDS.

I never like seeing this Queen as the outcome because it is NOT a positive outcome. Sure this Queen is very strong and a take charge kind of female but her meanings are also sadness, mourning and widowhood. Who is this Queen? Is it a person?

Does it represent the sword of separation? I see her as having strength even though she may have had her share of challenges in her life.Look at the symbol on her cape on the left side of the picture. It is the glyph for Gemini. This Queen is an air sign. She has learned to be her own best friend. She is in control of her emotions and leans towards being indifferent as a protective mechanism. Does this card answer our question? Some readers say that if a court card falls as the last card - it means that person depicted by the court card will have something to do with the outcome.

This Queen does represent a lawyer or doctor. Or an outcome that hurts.

[Dec 7th update:- 2 female doctors attended to Joe Dec 6th. "the outcome that hurts" is the new of the stroke over and above the open heart surgery which was to give him a chance for a new lifestyle]

10.jpg6.jpg 2 Queens in a layout suggest rivals or females in competition. These two are not likely to be friends. Could it be a wife and ex wife? It’s possible. When I find out I will post it.[UPDate:- Dec 10th- Today Joe has improved significantly, there are still concerns about the side effects of the stroke ........... Right now it is a miracle .... and the important thing is to look at each day as a bonus]

Will the Tarot answer the Question?

The question posed is “will the person who had the heart attack yesterday improve before Christmas”

You can see the complete Celtic cross using the wonderful Cosmic deck in the last post.

[Written permission granted from Laura E. Clarson, author of The Cosmic Tarot - Signposts Along the Path-A Spiritual Approach to the Tarot, to use some of her meanings in this case study.]

The Cosmic deck is illustrated in appreciation of it’s beautiful images and to demonstrate the study case of the Celtic cross reading.

1. COVERING - 3 CUPS REVERSED

1and2.jpg2. CROSSING-8 CUPS

1. 3 of cups Reversed- as the 1st card representing the situation around the question we find the negative influence of what is generally an excellent card of celebration. This card points to excesses such as drinking, smoking and unhealthy eating habits. This card’s meaning ties in very nicely to the circumstances which may have lead to the heart attack- this is only speculation right now but makes sense. There is a hint that drugs can be an issue as well but I am not certain if the Tarot is picking up on something that will come to pass or could be a “now” problem. The description ties into the playing cards of 9spades.jpg5spades.jpg7spades.jpg(alcohol or drug overdose/problem).

2. 8 of Cups- as the crossing card, challenge or blessing which rules this reading we find a card of withdrawal. In this card is emotional indifference or an emotional distancing between 2 people. There is a loneliness depicted and this could describe how the person feels right now and will for the next several months. The road to recovery is a lonely one because you are on your own … despite any moral and medical support you will get. No one can feel your pain but you. Others can relate to it but it still is not the same because they are not in your skin.

3. FOUNDATION- 10 of Cups.

This card suggests Love. The energy of the 10 of Cups is fulfillment on an emotional level. Because I did3.jpg the cards the Tarot is showing me about my connection to the man in question. Some of my emotional connection to him is represented within this card.

10’s are also about completions, the cups are full and he was at a place in his life when life could have been good. He is also surrounded by people close to him that are his emotional anchor such as his children and the other important people in his environment.

4.jpg

4. ACTIVATED-PASSING. 4 of Cups. It’s a waiting game now. The results of the medical testing are not completed, others cannot be done until Monday. If you look at the image in the card it shows a person who is worried even though there are symbols of abundance around him. Traditionally this card points to apathy- lack of interest or concern. Is the Tarot suggesting that there is nothing to worry about right at this time? Sometimes we take things for granted such as people close to us and even our own health.[UPDATE:- Dec 8th - open heart surgery was performed on Nov 29th]

A heart attack is a wake up call that something is wrong- and will certainly snap someone out of this trance of “nothingness” suggested by the 4 of Cups.

5. CROWNING- Key 13. Major Arcana - DEATH

5.jpgPosition 5 is read as the probable future or distance future. It depends on which meaning you have decided to use. Here is a card of an ending, completion and finalization to use a few softer words. Many readers say it is not about the physical death of the body but a transition. A new cycle starting after the old one has been eliminated or weaned out. The Death cards is not as shocking as the Tower card, but still unsettling and upsetting. What a great image for the Death card. Guess who is waiting for you ….. notice the watch on the bottom left of the card. Time has run out.

Yes a big change awaits this situation, but in what direction?

[UPDATE:- Dec 8th- Joe suffered a stroke on Dec 6th 32 hours after he was released from the hospital to go home from an apparent successful heart surgery]

6.jpg

6. IMMEDIATE FUTURE. Queen of Pentacles.

An interesting card. This court card does not represent me and that means I will be approached or

contacted by a female that is described by the pentacles Queen, very shortly. Laura Clarson describes her as a woman over 25 years old, with darker hair and an Earth sign- Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn.

Something will need to be organized … it is one of the characteristics of the earth sign personalities. Now, it just occurred to me that there could be such a woman and she is a Taurus. But I cannot imagine her contacting me even though we have had a few friendly discussion over the past decade. Time will tell.

Lenormand in Celtic Cross

Lenormand in Celtic Cross

.I withdrew the LADY 29. Hölgy card from the French Cartomancy Lenormand deck and used it as the Significator card to represent the female in this reading. The Celtic cross will be a brief overview of how one can read the Lenormand in these designated positions traditionally belonging to the Tarot.

The question was general - “what is it I should know about the next 3 months?”

1. COVERS HER card- FISH/KING DIAMONDS. 34. HalThis female is shown to be very concerned about her financial situation. The FISH card is also a lighter haired male that may be involved to some degree with her current dilemma.[Nov 23 update:  lighter haired man is involved]

2. CROSSING HER card- TOWER 19. Torony - influence card of opportunity or challenge. Here we have 3 possibilities. The first one is involving her finances. FISH & TOWER = can suggest a professional building such as a bank or lending institution. The second possible meaning is that there could be a hospital or medical clinic connected to a male that is close to her or on her mind. The third potential meaning is that alcohol/drugs could be an issue around a male of that coloring, usually someone older than 35 years. A possible concern for the female.[Nov 23 update: lighter haired man over 35 + is hospitalized Nov 16/07]

3. BENEATH HER card- BOOK. 26. Könyv. A situation or information that is not fully revealed at the time of the reading. Unfoldment of this entire situation stems from the fact that there is a lack of sufficient money or lack of conclusive medical findings.[Nov 23 update:  the lack of information involved a pending health condition-heart attack which occurred Nov 16th]

4. BEHIND HER card- KEY. 33. Kulcs. Even though this influence or situation is in the process of passing it is still currently active. The obvious meaning is to open or close. In this case there is an opening of information which will lead to a decision or path to some sort of success in resolving whatever it is concerning the female. At this point it could be 1 of 3 things, all of them or something else that has not been delineated yet because I am going step by step in this interpretation.

5. ABOVE HER card -RIDER. 1. Lovag. This cards strongly points to information that is on its way or the further development taking the natural process of manifestation. Yes there will be the arrival news. Since this spot can represent a possible outcome, I would want to read it as a for sure situation, only because the energy of the Rider is already in motion.[Nov 23 update: news arrives about a heart attack]

6. BEFORE HER card- SCYTHE/JACK DIAMONDS. 10. Kasza. Within the next few weeks this female will deal with some upsetting and startling news or situation. The Scythe card is a powerful energy which severs or eliminates. This can be positive or negative. So far we know that the female in question has a pending disruption coming up with regards to the FISH card and all the possible meanings of that card. As a people card, there could be the involvement of a young man as well - since it is a diamond, it would represent finances as well. However it can mean ones well being.[Nov 23 update- reading was done Oct 23 and within 3 weeks the startling news comes, the young man is the son of female involved]

[She did not divulge any concerns to me and kept her question simple. I bet though it was in the back of her mind.]In combination the Scythe+FISH= potential financial chaos and problems+FISH/KING DIAMONDS= a painful circumstance around the male represented by this card+TOWER= a serious problem involving people in authority or professionals+BOOK= important consequences or results+KEY= don’t count on the current apparent stability of a situation.  No matter which way you combine the Scythe card it looks like the indications are unpleasant & provoking.[UPDATE- Dec 8th-  fair haired man suffers a stroke, a painful circumstance involving a serious problem with people in authority or professionals (doctors/nurses/specialists) -unpleasant, provoking]

7. HER ATTITUDE card- CLOVER. 2. Négylevelű lóhere. She has an unrealistic approach right now. It may be optimistic but it definitely will not continue that way for very long. The female is in for a rude awakening.[Nov 23 update:  the rude awakening is the serious condition of the man 35+]

8. ENVIRONMENT/EXTERNAL INFLUENCE card- BOUQUET/QUEEN SPADES. 9. Virágcsokor. If you look at the layout the Queen Spades and Jack Diamonds are looking towards each other. This combo indicates that the female is dealing with an aggressive older woman in her environment or at least her negative influence. Because of the nature of the entire theme of the reading the positive meanings of the BOUQUET card are lessened.[Nov 23 update: the aggressive female is the partner of the male 35+]

9. HOPES/FEARS card- CHILD/JACK SPADES. 13. Gyermek. This spot can also provide immediate advice. The CHILD card reflects her fears of a situation that is not fully mature yet. When you tie the CHILD card with the BOUQUET/QUEEN SPADES there is evidence that the Queen is an upsetting/domineering mother figure involved. If this comes to be true, we would have to take a second look at the FISH/KING DIAMONDS card- it could be a father or partner of the Queen.[Nov 23 update: the fair haired man 35+ is the father of the child]

1 0. OUTCOME card- MOON. 32. Hold. This last card would confirm the emotional links between the people cards. The Moon card can be tied into the sign Cancer. In Astrology the moon rules Cancer and represents the 4th house- the home and one of the parents, usually a mother. The MOON card is about fluctuating feelings, sensitivities and memories. Within this card lies the hint of a time frame -28 days. Intuition is important- to following hunches, dreams & those gut feelings you get from time to time. Moods or a depressive state of mind are possibilities as a result of the influence of the SCYTHE combinations. Some Lenormand Cartomancers assign the meaning of honors to this card. In lieu of the general reading this meaning is not applicable.[UPDATE: Dec 8th- one of the side effects of the Stroke was partial loss of memory, depression]

The last card does not give a direct answer but it does help to blend the cards of the reading. This reading strongly suggests a disruptive family situation that will unfold. The mother or female depicted by the BOUQUET/QUEEN SPADES will experience much anxiety and nervousness by the next full moon cycle. This in turn will affect the female of this reading for some reason. There is a shock or surprise that will have to be dealt with.[Nov 23 update: this reading came to pass within 1 calendar month, tomorrow is the FULL MOON.  The female is upset because the news came about a serious heart attack which will require open heart surgery the early part of next week Nov 27? and hopefully NOT on Nov 28/29.  The reason being because the Moon is in Leo which rules the heart- not a good time Astrologically to be doing any kind of heart procedure.  Statistically it has been proven that when operation occur on parts of the body in which the moon transits there are problems with excessive bleeding - in this case it can be fatal because it involves the heart

{a blood clot formed }

1.jpg

The RIDER's news is fast approaching.

[December 1st- the surgery appears to be successful.  There was a change  midstream in the procedure and the intended triple by pass was not possible- only a double by pass.  The patient is recovering rapidly and is looking forward to leaving the hospital some time next week]

[December 7th- the male suffered a stroke and has been hospitalized again]

Asking Tarot about the Rainring cards - celtic cross

I’ve had this reading done for a few weeks now. I have asked the Tarot cards about people, businesses, ideas and just about everything else under the sun, but never about another system of divination using cards. Seeing that Peter Ryley has already asked the Rainring about the Tarot, I thought it would be interesting to ask the Tarot about the Rainring. Tarot- mini Celtic cross

I was asked to seek the guidance of the Tarot today for a young lady who applied for a job position. Her question - will I be offered the position at xyz company?

The image shown is part of the Celtic cross using the Robin Wood deck. I chose this deck because the question is a practical one and I find the imagery works better, in this case.

Card 1- aura of question- Ace of Swords. The Ace is a card of mental focus or concentration and reflects the determination of the young lady . It is also shows are worried mind. 1rw1.jpg

Card 2- crossing influence- 8 of Cups. This card indicates that she has become detached from any form of emotional gratification in reference to the job she applied for. There is a hint in this card that even if she gets the job she will be searching for something else. The card that crosses is either a positive or negative influence- I see this card as neutral.

Card 3- beneath the Ace of Swords- the reason the question is being asked. 9 of Wands points to much strife in the search of a job. But she hasn’t given up. There would be much competition but she is bravely holding on to the staff with both hand. The staff is her resolve.

Card 4- current to passing situation. The Hermit #9. This card suggests that she has been doing lots of soul searching about the type of work she wants to do. She has the experience of the Hermit and worked hard to gain her skills. She needs to value her own ability & not sell herself short. Her time will pass when she will no longer look back at where she has been and focus more on where she is going. This is clearly demonstrated in the crossing card -8 of cups.

Card 5- placed above Ace of Swords, to come, highest potential as an outcome. Temperance #15. Major Arcana cards show up when there is something else at work, like spiritual lessons one must learn or use-if one has learned them already. This is a wonderful card of balance. It speaks of good combinations, right compositions and all things in moderation. In itself there is a promise of a reasonably good outcome.

Card 6- to the right of the Ace of Swords. Generally the immediate situation or soon to be realized. The Page of Wands brings with it favorable news. A declaration of information that will benefit the young woman. How she chooses to respond to this news is a different story because of the crossing card showing her quite possibly turning her back on this opportunity. This does not make sense right now because she has told me she really, really wants the job she applied for.

The very last card is the King of Pentacles, not shown in image depicting mini Celtic cross.

Look at the richness of the green within this card. 1rwkingpent.jpgThe King is master of his suit. This cards speaks of success & attainment in a financial situation. As an outcome card it suggest that a man will have the final say or have something to do with the result of securing the job position. This King is friendly, helpful and has good money management talents.. He has associations to Capricorn, a cardinal earth sign. As I have said in other posts, sometimes we take on the characteristics of the court cards.

The only thing about this layout that sticks out like a sore thumb is the 8 of cups. Obviously, the young lady could accept the offer & find out that it is not what she really wants to do or it does not satisfy her. However, she is not really in a financial position to decline the offer either.

The 8 of cups can suggest walking away from her own emotions by not taking things personally. When you tie this card in with The Temperance energy- it is pointed out again, to remain emotionally balanced. It takes skill to deal with work situations so that you do not go from one extreme to another.

Any one else have suggestions on the 8 of cups?

Celtic cross- Devil outcome,conclusion

In conclusion -

position 7- I read this spot as my attitude about the question of situation. 7-10tarot.jpg

What do you really think deep down inside?

10 Swords- this card is very fitting under the circumstances, it reflects my attitude about this family member + his health situation. I am coming from a totally defeatist position, anticipating the worst. The funny thing is that it does not get any worse…. there are 10 swords piercing the individual’s back, it really only takes 1 to kill someone- if you aim it through the back of the heart.

I love to analyze this card. Here we have a #10 symbolically associated with a conclusion before the next step. This card points to being on the verge of a different mind-set, out of the black cloud of negativity.

position 8 - this spot reveals your environment, possible external influences or the viewpoint of the person in question. Sometimes you find out the answer to your question within the card that falls here.

The Hierophant is connected to the function of hearing. It is not about hearing those little voices that you think come from a Higher Source, it is about “knowing”. This card tells me that the family member will follow his own ways & do what they have always done by following their own belief system in regards to their health. The Hierophant’s message to me is that I am to stop worrying or I will not hear my own Divine guidancce.

position 9- traditionally hopes and fears.

8 of wands- a card of speed or fast approaching already in motion situation. As the hope aspect, I hope for some sort of quick resolution to the family member’s health condition as in an improvement or at least finding out why they are ill (which currently is under investigation). As the fear aspect, I am afraid that the health condition is speed up and progressively get worse.

And finally the Outcome card. Surprisingly the Devil. I have always thought this card to be ridiculous in it’s image -in the example used. It truly exemplifies negative thinking. Sure it about entrapment of sorts as well. Before I tie it into the reading it is necessary to enter the “spirit of the card” as you should when using the Tarot or other psychological systems of card divination.

The Devil is the Magician & Strength rolled into one. The power of concentration directed through force which in turn is not of pure intent. This is clearly portrayed by the inverted pentagram. The black background of the Devil card symbolizes ignorance or the darkness of truth. The symbol of Saturn is on the open hand. Saturn rules Capricorn and Capricorn is represented by the goat.

The inverted torch suggests a false attitude. The man and woman are chained but it is their imagination to think that they cannot get away. To get away from their own negative thinking represented by the inverted torch.

The Devil card tells me that a mental adjustment is necessary - mine, because I asked the question. Also, my faith is being tested. The last card did not answer my question. I am not suppose to know the answer. I am suppose to look at my own reasons why I want the Tarot to answer such a question. The outcome is in the hands of God and not the Devil’s pretense to know the answer. Make sense?

P.S.- I have asked questions in the past and the Tarot plainly would not give me an answer. In fact several times the Fool card showed up telling me my question was foolish.

Celtic cross- Devil outcome

In continuation of the Tarot post started HERE . My understanding of the Major Arcana is highly influence by my long time studies through B.O.T.A. I normally don’t include reversal interpretation in my readings but felt that it was necessary in this question.

position 1- covers you spot, describes the problem, situation or essence of question.

Ace of Swords reversed- partially this card tells me that I am directing my energy in the wrong direction by even asking this question. It also suggests potential surgery or injections by needles. The energy of the Ace is weakened to some degree and within that weakness a negative attitude results.

position 2- crosses you spot, describes opportunities or challenges in relation to the question.

7 wands- suggests strong energy and points to the ability to overcoming obstacles that may come. In this card, there is a ray of hope and it indicates that the energy within the Ace of Swords could very well be restored on it’s own- excluding my involvement/worry.

position 3- I place this card under card 1. Beneath you spot, represents the basis of the question. This position will reveal if a person is involved or a general situation.

King of Swords- this card would describe the person in question. Someone who is a fighter, take charge kind of person and emotionally detached to his own health problems.

position 4 - behind you spot (I place this card to the left of card 1), what is passing or a phase that is coming to a closure.

JUSTICE reversed- my gut feeling is telling me that this family member is not receiving appropriate medical treatment. It speaks of the “unfairness” that occurred in recent months. It suggests an abuse of power when coupled by the Ace of Swords reversed, neglect from those that are in a position to help. The card hints at lack of preparation in this matter.

position 5 - crowning you spot (I place it above card 1), what might materialize depending on card 6. I use to read this as the distant future spot- let’s say 3-6 months. I have found in my experience that position 5 usually manifests sooner than the outcome card.

Ace Wands reversed- 2 Aces reversed is a strong warning that something new will develop that has a negative potential. In this card the suggestion is negative news or ideas. The promise of the Ace is just that a promise- in other words lip-service. The hope of this Ace is false and shows wasted energy with regards to the question.

If you look at the Aces in the image, you can see the tips pointing straight down to the King of Swords. This man is not thinking clear and is suppressing much within himself.

position 6 - before you spot (I place it to the right of card 1), generally this spot is 3-4 weeks. This card is looks interesting in lieu of all the cards.

9 Pentacles- traditionally this cards suggests self-reliance, depending on one self. Surrounding the self with everything that brings the external experience of satisfaction and comfort. Not paying attention to your inner voice. The way I want to read this is that the family member is taking ownership for his well-being or lack of it.

If this card leads to the potential of the crowing card, this can be alarming because Ace of Wands indicates news is coming that will upset the apple cart, especially since it is in such close proximity to the Devil card.

I have to wonder though with 2 Aces being reversed just how balanced is he really.

7-10 positions continued next post

Tziganes Lenormand in mini Celtic cross

I asked the same question about someone’s well being using Bruno Bieri’s Tziganes Lenormand.

Card 1 Garden #20. The situation. The Garden card suggests a certain amount of success in a public venue. In the image we have two gypsy people meeting by a fountain in a park setting. This can suggest an appointment in a non residential area.

Card 2 Child #13. Challenge or Opportunity. The Child card suggest a positive influence generally. It is the beginning of a pending situation. On the other hand it can also mean worries. Being dependent on others.

Card 3 Coffin #8. Foundation. The Coffin card in this deck has a mask on the actual coffin. In the background is a circle partially hidden with the symbols for night and day (moon, sun). Beautiful depiction of the cycles. There are heavy drapes to the right of the card. The right direction is the future and it is partially hidden by the drapes. Looking at the mask which is facing to the right I get the feeling that much is hidden and not correctly revealed in regards to the question. The Coffin is about endings but it will also signify the end of one aspect of thought as well. One could say that something will be unmasked.

tsiganes-lenormand.jpg

Card 4 House #4. Current-Passing. The House cards suggests matters in the environment. The focus is on what goes on inside the home. The House can be the physical body as well. In the other Lenormand decks, the King of Cups is shown in the background. The King is a male family member. This means that the focal point in the current-passing spot is around him.

Card 5 Clover #2. Probable Future. The Clover card shows events happening quickly and is such a fast influence that I would not give it more than a week, tops. This will alter the time frame of card 5 which is the immediate future. What ever is detailed by card 5 will come to pass with lightning fast speed.

Card 6 Fish #34. Immediate future. Because of the influence of the Clover card in the future spot the meaning of the Fish card will manifest soon, very soon. The suggestion for this card is a possible trip, traveling to….somewhere. it is a card of success and good well being. It can foretell good news coming. The Fish card also indicates water and fluids either within the body or on the coast. In the other Lenormand style cards the King of Diamonds is in the background, this King sometimes represents a doctor or someone in the medical field.

The Tziganes Lenormand sheds some different light on the question. All in all, it is a favorable reading. However I did not delve deeply into the meanings of these cards. There are still possible combinations to consider.

park + fish = medical clinic, hospital
house + park = large public building
coffin + child = an aborting of project or plan
child + fish = an intern

Update July 22/07 = the park & fish turned out to be a hospital.
child & fish = turned out to be nurses
house & park = turned out to be a huge high rise parking lot building (beside the hospital)

pages of Shustah(c) in Mini Celtic cross layout

I had asked my Tarot about a situation that is weighing heavily on my emotions, the concern for a family member’s well being. I know these things are out of our hands and if it is the journey of the family member, then who am I in the grander scheme of things to even question this.
BUT……I am questioning this and asking the cards for guidance.

The Lenormand and Gipsy cards gave me information many months in advance about this. The playing cards were right on and I remember thinking to myself -who the heck is this person involved. Now I know.

I thought I might try a 6 pages of Shustah(c) mini Celtic cross layout. I prefer this layout to the regular 10 cards.

The core understanding of the Shustah(c) cards is relatively easy. The positions in the mini Celtic cross will add some more dimension as does the Astrological wheel or any layout for that matter that has a designated spot.

Card 1 will be the aura or energy of my question, namely the situation. Here we have a red card with a huge mushroom and a couple of frogs. Red leans towards challenges. The mushroom has no flowers or leaves. The 2 frogs are sitting under the mushroom. Looking at the images it does look like a dialogue is going on (description in the handbook by Ann Manser/Cecil North). When I meditate on this card in reference to my question, it gives me the feeling of “protection” and a “knowing” within me. I also see growth and toxicity.

Card 2 is the challenge or opportunity energy crossing the Sacred Mushroom. The 6 sign of the Zodiac Virgo. What a coincidence this is - one of the things Virgo does rules is health. It also rules the intenstines in the body, process of digestion and elimination as well. The time frame is late Aug until about the 3rd week of September. This gives me the feeling that this could very well be a “timeframe” to be aware of.

Card 3, beneath card 1 is a root card-the general foundation of the layout. Here we have a blue card depicting a calmness. In the image is an individual that looks like he isn’t hard done by the clothes he is wearing. He is holding something in his hand and a bird is diving into his palm either to take it or to look closer at what it is. It is not exactly clear. I think Manser intended it to be that way. The book calls this card Lord of Benevolence. If this is the “root” of the question, then this card suggest nothing too serious because this Lord is a good guy.

sh.jpg(c) Pages of Shustah cards displayed for the purpose of study of layout.

Card 4 to the left of card 1 usually represents what is partially still current but will pass soon. Here we have another red card. I think that the Separating Fence is spooky to look at. A grid of bars comes between 2 people. It is not clear if they are male or female because they are hooded. Maybe there is no one under there - an emptiness. The book states severance or separation as a key word. The feeling I get from this card is “not being able to get through or reach someone”. In regards to my original question, the red card points to a helpless isolation by this family member due to their well being. A drifting apart has occurred. The grid of bars can mean a “blockage” because there is the prevention of togetherness or “flow”.

The next 2 cards are yellow which is a good & positive feeling.
Card 5 above card 1 is the future card. Here we see a big mama pig and 5 or 6 baby piggies. There is a fence in the background. I find the card extremely hard to see because it certainly isn’t as vivid in color as in the image above. When I stare (meditate) at the fence, I see it moving back and forth in the center where it is joined. This is telling me there is adjustments to coming and a certain amount of flexibility with the “well being” question. This card is about good fortune, possible material gain etc. I see the answer coming the great Goddess (mama pig). The Universe will provide what is needed.

Card 6 to the right of card 1 is the imminent future, probably within 2 weeks. It is a yellow card. In the image is a container filled with what looks like strands of beads, jewelry etc. But it could also be something else -this is where your imagination and intuition come into play. It could be popcorn.
Another card of material increase. The Treasure card points to something that will be revealed, maybe it is news and not necessarily a gold necklace which makes no sense in relation to the question, at this point so far.
The feeling I get is that there will be a discovery, a finding or the worms your find if you dig deep enough but since the Little Holy Pigs cards showed no evidence of alarming news, then whatever is in the container is a short term influence.

Crossing card Virgo is ruled by Mercury meaning communications will come -as in the results.
