Young chaps of Swords suits

The young chaps of the Swords suit look troublesome. You can see and feel the shift in energy starting with the Page and changing into the Knight when you look at them side by side.

When I see the Page Swords in a Reading I always get a negative feeling about the card. I know this isn’t the correct way to look at it. The more you study the card in relation to the position of the layout and the remainder of the spread the Page of Swords sometimes isn’t negative at all. This card can suggest being overly cautious or suspicious of people and situations. The Page holds a Sword in to defend or attack mode.

The Sword is related the SCYTHE in the Lenormand Cards. One of the associated meanings with the Sword is to bring clarity. Often when we experience clarity of a situation or about a person it can hurt but it also prunes us of all that is not truth. Another meaning is force or strength. Many times intellectual anger is present.

In the Knight of Swords the Page is ready to fight. He points the Sword towards the goal of attack. The horse is in a fast Pace Gait which means it is revved up for the race. These two cards show how energy of the Swords can be utilized. You can either stand in one place not knowing whether to defend or attack or you can find a means towards a solution.

Seeing the Knight of Swords in a Reading I know that the time of inactivity is over. It is time for action. The clouds in the background of this card suggest turbulence but one should know that the state of mind is off-center. This card depicts rashness and a headstrong approach to the situation or person.

When the Knight of Swords is the last card in the Celtic Cross or as a result card in other Layouts this means there is a battle of egos involved with the situation or person. A pruning process will be necessary which often causes more chaos until the actual clarity of mind is achieved.

Simple Trigger Layout

Reading interpretation for Female E. using the French Cartomancy deck. The featured spread is the Simple Trigger layout.

TRIGGER ROW: COFFIN. LADY. HEART. LILY.

Female E. is represented by the LADY. In the past column we find the COFFIN suggesting some sort of ending or new direction involving a male -FISH. The past column does show optimism regarding this new direction which is depicted by the SUN card.

In the now column the GENTLEMAN is directly above the LADY. This means the male is very much on her mind. She is thinking about him quite profoundly. He in turn is worried about money (FISH) and some challenges (MOUNTAIN) which are before him. Beneath the LADY lies the WHIP card. This card foretells some disagreement coming or lack of clarity in communication.

Directly in front of the LADY is the HEART card falling in the immediate column. The female is looking right at this card. Her emotions are tied with this male (GENTLEMAN) and she will be a little suspicious (SNAKE) in the near future. The obstacles suggested by the MOUNTAIN card will be in the relationship (HEART). The female feels something is not right (SNAKE). It could be another female (SNAKE) involved.

By the time Female E’s birthday rolls around this situation should be resolved.  The LILY card promises that harmony will be restored.  The SCYTHE in the soon column suggests the aggravations of the MOUNTAIN card will cease. The CLOVER depicts a fast solution.

The overall important card in the Trigger Layout is the LILY card. It is positive. The Layout ends in the CLOVER card which suggests whatever dilemma is going on now it should be concluded before Female E’s birthday.

What do the Lenormand cards reveal?

What do the Lenormand cards reveal?

I am going to briefly interpret the 20 Lenormand cards belonging to a full board (36) reading.

The GENTLEMAN card is the significant other of the female LADY of this reading.  Here we can see that he may be keeping secrets BOOK from her regarding a possible health issue TREE. It looks like he may have gotten some news LETTER in the recent past which requires some further investigation or solutions KEY.  I want to read ANCHOR as something which is rooted TREE in his past and which could also involve a female STORK Queen of Hearts friend DOG.

The LADY represents the female getting the reading.  The BOOK card touches both the LADY and GENTLEMAN cards and means there is something hidden from the lady which involves the male. As you can see the dark  CLOUDS are ahead of  her in the immediate future column. The King of Clubs is looking towards the LADY card and I want to read this as an imminent situation coming up.  The RIDER is bringing some news or circumstance into the LADY’s life real soon.  Maybe even within the next few days.  I can’t help but think the GENTLEMAN has a strong association with this.

Is the RIDER bringing news of grief BIRDS and undue hardship CROSS?  Will there be a sudden SCYTHE turn of events from a situation which was not revealed BOOK to the female?

Let’s look at the HEART card next.  This card will reveal the female’s emotional situation.  It looks like there will be a fated event CROSS affecting her emotions HEART which will cause her much unbalance WHIP at the beginning of this circumstance.  Changes STORK are coming which could end up in a huge argument WHIP.  The LILY card hints at a romantic connection which will as a result end up in a decision PATH of which way to go after this episode is brought into the open.

When the BEAR card is near the HEART it does suggest a powerful attraction.  Another way to read BEAR is as a person, an older man.  Many Lenormand card Readers use the HEART card to actually represent the physical heart.  If you look back in the same row you can see the TREE card which does suggest health to a certain degree.  For the most part ANCHOR is positive, however, it can also mean something which will not go away like a disease.

I have a gut feeling the GENTLEMAN has a health issue TREE and the extent of it is not fully known BOOK.

Let’s examine the SCYTHE card next.  We all know this card can be very negative when connected to BIRDS,  CLOUDS and CROSS.  The only way we can read these cards in a positive way is to determine if the abrupt chaotic situation is beneficial in the long run.  Short term pain long term gain.

There is no doubt in my mind the female represented by the LADY is in for quite a disturbing time over the next few weeks or months.

Those are just a few possible predictions.  The cards reveal much more when you criss cross them or read just the rows or columns. Each card is a word of a sentence. When you establish the sentence you have a theme or probable prediction.

Ambivalence of the Scythe- Lenormand

The Scythe

Interestingly, the SCYTHE is the #10 card which symbolically represents the completion of a situation prior to the changes that follow.  In this case, the #10 applies but in most of the other cards in the Lenormand style decks, the numbers are not rooted in any kind of systematic order.

Why is the SCYTHE card ambivalent? Despite the fact that it clearly slices off any further development of situations in question which usually “startle” us out of our supposed balance, it will also clear the way for something new. The latter in the long run is in our best interest.

END – the ending is different than the coffin card.  It is final and usually unexpected.  The COFFIN card holds within it other avenues to pursue which is depicted by the cards which follow it.  The SCYTHE card holds no hope because it is forcing you to really take a look at what just left your life permanently.

RELEASE – often in our lives the release of challenging situations or people is welcome.  The Karma has been played out and there is no point learning the same lessons over and over.  If you have gotten to the stage of recognizing Karmic undertones in some of your experiences you will understand this.

DETACHMENT – as a contribution to describe someone’s personality, there is an indifference in attitude. The person won’t want to or know how to react to various situations.

JACK OF DIAMONDS – not all Lenormand decks display the playing cards associated with them.  As I have said before, they do not blend in with the core essence of the representation of the image within the card. The Jack should be considered though.  If you apply your own meanings to the Jack, you can make some sense but really only in the fact it is a younger fair haired male.  It is important to merge the meanings of the SCYTHE to this male.  He is responsible or involved in the manifestation of this ending or release.

TIP- look to see which card is facing  the point of the SCYTHE.  This card will reveal who or what is being removed.  It doesn’t have to be so drastic & could be something which is not life threatening or monumental.

Simple Situation Layout

Layouts don’t have to be complicated.   Much information can be arrived at using few cards. Sometimes we just want to know where we are at and really have no question in mind.  The Simple Situation layout requires on 5 cards.  The Lady if you are a female and the Gentleman if you are a male, provided you are using one of the Lenormand style cards.

This layout works with the Tarot as well.  Just pull out a card that resonates with you to represent yourself and place it in the middle.  Follow the diagram below.

1. Past- an influence that just happened.

The Rider card brings news, messages and announcements.  Since it falls in the past the person heard something just recently, maybe even the day before doing the reading.  At this point it cannot be determined if this message is positive or negative.  When you study card 2 in the Now spot you will have a better idea.

2. Now- in the present.  It can reveal what is going on currently.

The Anchor card often represents one’s job or career.  It will also lend a supportive influence to card #1, the Rider and only because it is positive in nature.  It is very clear the person received news around a situation closely connected to work.

3. & 4. Future – these two cards describe what’s coming up, in the next few weeks.  The top future card is linked to the past.  It is similar to the result.  The bottom future card is linked to the Now card.  It will give you an overall outcome.

The top future card is the Birds.  When you hook this card up with the Rider (past card), it will suggest news that creates worry and nervous tension.  The bottom future card is the Scythe. The news that came in regarding the job or some form of security (anchor) has an unwanted ending for the most part.   There is a severance involved, it can be the loss of a job or a completion of a contract.

The Scythe card is always a warning to prepare yourself for some swift action.  It does have positive meanings as well.  Maybe the person is unhappy at their workplace and this situation comes as a relief.  In that aspect, it will suggest the end of worries caused by news around the job.

The Birds card is also a “time” card.  It means within “2″.  Whatever this situation is, it will come to pass with 2 weeks or 2 months tops.

The above interpretation is very basic but it gives a rather direct message.  Other information can be determined by these cards.  If you did have a specific question, then you would revolve the cards around the nature of the question.  It may not involve work, it could involve someone’s well being or a relationship.

Jack of Diamonds

j-dia.jpg The Greedy one.
Typically the Jack of Diamonds represents a fair haired young man with a light hearted disposition. He has been known to wear a uniform and sometimes brings news – a messenger. Because it is the diamonds suit which suggest the tangible world, the message can be about money.

Most Lenormand decks have an insert of the Jack of Diamonds with the image of a Scythe – some of the typical meanings are slicing off, rupturing, severing etc. This can be a bad experience or a good one depending which way you look at it. When we are out gardening and removing weeds and pruning trees we are doing the Scythe thing. When we get suddenly “dumped” with no warning we are doing the Scythe thing. When we get a paper cut we are doing the Scythe thing.

If you have the Mystical Lenormand handy, take a look at the Scythe card, #10. It shows an oxen pulling a wagon with a huge bale of hay, on top of it is the scythe. Looks like the work has been done, and there is still more to do.

When the Scythe comes up in a reading and you take the card to represent the Jack of Diamonds, you will get a message alright – with a smile and a razor sharp delivery.
