I am excited to share the interpretation of the French Cartomancy Lenormand in a 9 card layout with you. The reason for my excitement is that a few members of the Lenormand Cards Community Facebook page offered their insights.

After you lay the GENTLEMAN and LADY cards according to the instructions in the previous post start your interpretation at position 1. It is always a good idea to scan the entire layout to get a feel of the cards and keep the Crossing card in mind when merging the meanings of the cards up Card 5 (whatever question you may decide to name this position).
Try this Layout
POSITION 1: 34 FISH
BENEATH GENTLEMAN:
HOW DOES GENTLEMAN D SEE LADY K BASICALLY WHAT DOES HE THINK ABOUT HER?
FISH: This card has positive energy. He sees her as someone who can look after herself.
POSITION 2: 6 CLOUDS
LEFT OF GENTLEMAN:
DOES GENTLEMAN D WANT TO RETURN TO THE RELATIONSHIP WITH LADY K?
CLOUDS: He is not sure what he wants. There are a lot of things up in the air for him. Most likely he is experiencing some financial setbacks or is not where he wants to be to offer a steady relationship.
POSITION 3. 35 ANCHOR
ABOVE GENTLEMAN:
WHAT LADY K DOESN’T KNOW ABOUT GENTLEMAN K.
ANCHOR: Gentleman D is more reliable than she may think. I think his career direction is very important to him and he needs the security of steady work with little risk involved. He is not focused on the relationship in the same way as Lady K.
POSITION 4: 14 FOX
BRIDGE POSITION: RIGHT OF GENTLEMAN AND TO THE LEFT OF THE LADY. THE MIDDLE CARD.
WILL GENTLEMAN D AND LADY K BUILD A BRIDGE AND START OVER?
FOX: Not always a welcome card when asking about relationships. This card could mean some game playing but Lady K is smart (another level of the Fox meaning). Will they start over? In my analysis of this card I wouldn’t rule it out because the Fox card cautions to take things slowly and to really ask yourself if this is what you want. As I said before always factor the last card which in this case is the Mountain card.
POSITION 5: 21 MOUNTAIN
CROSSING CARD:
IS THERE A FUTURE FOR GENTLEMAN D AND LADY K?
MOUNTAIN: This last spot reveals the opportunities and oppositions in relation to the question. Your question can be different and this will still apply.
The Mountain card shows a distant future with many twists and turns. If you look carefully at the image on this card you will see roads or pathways through and over the mountain. In the background there is the sun’s aura. There are brighter times ahead.
The summation of all the cards in the various question positions suggest Lady K needs to move on with her own life. This does not mean move on with another male which she is free to, if she wants.
Lady K is losing a lot of energy by thinking about Gentleman D and what he thinks about her & the relationship. It’s not important what Gentleman D thinks! It is important what she needs to bring her some peace of mind.
The Fox card lends her some strategic energy. What this means is that she can choose to take the high road and not allow Gentleman D to think he has the upper hand. He does not! Lady K is in control.
Matters of the heart can rip us apart. The uncertainty of not getting truthful reassurance that we really do matter in our partner’s life. Women tend to experience shades of Love which men don’t understand.
Males have never really understood the Goddess Female
I think sometimes we don’t understand ourselves, either.

I would need your help to understand this card.All the time I have trouble with The Clouds card.I use French deck,the lighter side is on the left,the darker side on the right.
I did 5 cards spread for a friend and this card was the last one.KEY+ Bouquet+ Letter+ Fish+ Clouds
the question was : “Will I get married with X.?”
it bothers me the last card because I really don’t know if I should interpret in a positive way according the direction of the brighter side of the card.If I would follow this rule than I would say this girl will get married with X.All problems will dissipate and she will get her desire especially that The Key card appears in the spread but also it mirrors the Clouds card.
Can you help me with this?

I think X is and will be concerned about the overall financial (fish)situation. There are fond (bouquet) feelings for the lady in question. The key card offers hope as you stated. The dark side of the clouds card in the French Cartomancy deck does point to the right at the end of the spread which leads me to think the issue is not directed to marriage. The message of the cloud card is a minor alert however there are no strong negative cards in the layout that point to a definite no. More time is needed in the unfoldment of this relationship. As far as a definite yes answer regarding marriage I don’t see it addressed until X sorts out his finances.
Open discussions (letter) are important about intent to marry. Does X know the female is thinking of marriage or is that her wish? Sometimes females think one thing and males are not on the same wavelength. Honest communication about marriage is recommended.
3. SHIP- ABOUT TO GO ON A TRIP OR ENGAGE IN SOME TRAVELS. WITH FISH- A TRIP WHICH WILL COST MORE THAN ANTICIPATED. COULD MEET A NEW FAIR HAIRED MAN, KING OF DIAMONDS.

8. COFFIN- FACING AN ENDING OF A PLAN OR RELATIONSHIP. CAN INDICATE GIVING UP ON A MATTER. WITH STORK- SOMEONE FROM THE PAST RETURNS AND THERE IS A COMPLETION OF KARMA.
12. BIRDS- VERY NERVOUS ABOUT AN UPCOMING EVENT. OTHER PEOPLE MAY BE TALKING ABOUT HER BEHIND HER BACK. WITH CLOVER- ALL WILL PASS SOON. WITH CLOUDS- NOT CLEAR MINDED.
14. FOX- WILL MAKE A WRONG DECISION. WITH HEART- NOT BEST CHOICE IN SELECTION OF A LOVER. WITH GENTLEMAN- HUSBAND/BOYFRIEND/SIGNIFICANT OTHER IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED.
19. TOWER- WILL BE VISITING SOMEONE IN HOSPITAL IF TREE IS NEARBY. IF HEART A BREAK UP IS INDICATED. WITH SCYTHE- POSSIBLE ROAD ACCIDENT (PATH) OR A FALL (HOUSE)
26. BOOK- SHE DOES NOT TELL ALL. KEEPS MANY THINGS TO HERSELF THEREBY BEING VERY DISCREET IN PERSONAL AFFAIRS. WITH BEAR- A VERY DAMAGING SECRET WHICH ENDANGERS THE LADY.
33. KEY- TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION TO A PROBLEM REGARDING SOME MALE CLOSE TO HER IF GENTLEMAN FALLS NEXT. WITH LETTERS- GETTING BUSINESS PAPERS IN ORDER.
36. CROSS- LOW SPIRITS OR FEELING DOWN IN THE DUMPS. WITH SUN- WILL CHEER UP REAL SOON. WITH STORK- CHANGES WILL COME AFTER RELEASE OF EMOTIONAL CONNECTION
What do the Lenormand cards reveal?
I am going to briefly interpret the 20 Lenormand cards belonging to a full board (36) reading.
The GENTLEMAN card is the significant other of the female LADY of this reading. Here we can see that he may be keeping secrets BOOK from her regarding a possible health issue TREE. It looks like he may have gotten some news LETTER in the recent past which requires some further investigation or solutions KEY. I want to read ANCHOR as something which is rooted TREE in his past and which could also involve a female STORK Queen of Hearts friend DOG.
The LADY represents the female getting the reading. The BOOK card touches both the LADY and GENTLEMAN cards and means there is something hidden from the lady which involves the male. As you can see the dark CLOUDS are ahead of her in the immediate future column. The King of Clubs is looking towards the LADY card and I want to read this as an imminent situation coming up. The RIDER is bringing some news or circumstance into the LADY’s life real soon. Maybe even within the next few days. I can’t help but think the GENTLEMAN has a strong association with this.
Is the RIDER bringing news of grief BIRDS and undue hardship CROSS? Will there be a sudden SCYTHE turn of events from a situation which was not revealed BOOK to the female?
Let’s look at the HEART card next. This card will reveal the female’s emotional situation. It looks like there will be a fated event CROSS affecting her emotions HEART which will cause her much unbalance WHIP at the beginning of this circumstance. Changes STORK are coming which could end up in a huge argument WHIP. The LILY card hints at a romantic connection which will as a result end up in a decision PATH of which way to go after this episode is brought into the open.
When the BEAR card is near the HEART it does suggest a powerful attraction. Another way to read BEAR is as a person, an older man. Many Lenormand card Readers use the HEART card to actually represent the physical heart. If you look back in the same row you can see the TREE card which does suggest health to a certain degree. For the most part ANCHOR is positive, however, it can also mean something which will not go away like a disease.
I have a gut feeling the GENTLEMAN has a health issue TREE and the extent of it is not fully known BOOK.
Let’s examine the SCYTHE card next. We all know this card can be very negative when connected to BIRDS, CLOUDS and CROSS. The only way we can read these cards in a positive way is to determine if the abrupt chaotic situation is beneficial in the long run. Short term pain long term gain.
There is no doubt in my mind the female represented by the LADY is in for quite a disturbing time over the next few weeks or months.
Those are just a few possible predictions. The cards reveal much more when you criss cross them or read just the rows or columns. Each card is a word of a sentence. When you establish the sentence you have a theme or probable prediction.
In the last post I stated……..
“LETTER & CLOUDS suggest some communication that will happen within a short period of time that could be unsettling. Usually when the CLOUDS are beside the significator/querent card (lady or gentleman) the person is worried about something. A general overcast feeling. “
As it turned out there was a message/news that came that was very disappointing and it was not directly from a man but from a person in a position of authority, King of Clubs (as Kings sometimes are).
The message put a damper on a goal/wish CLOUDS & STARS.
The fact that parts of this reading materialized within a day or so of the “simple situation layout” reading really startled me because I was not expecting this message.
In the same layout using the Beidermeier cards, the THIEF & ENEMY cards were looming over the SWEETHEART heart. In that layout the SWEETHEART card was turned away from these cards. That is in line totally with the fact that I
(SWEETHEART) did not anticipate this disappointing message. Nothing serious. But nevertheless -connected to the MERRIMENT card – SWEETHEART was perhaps a little too sure, and was not seeing the “theft” of a hope that she soon would experience.
As I think about the “simple situation layout” – the cards described the situation in black and white, it was as plain as day.
The connection I made with the Tarot HANGED MAN was right on to some degree because I was not looking at the obvious possibility because I was wrapped around too much optimism for this one goal to manifest successfully -and it didn’t, well not now anyways.
Obnubilate
Most of the Lenormand decks depict the Clouds card in an easy, identifiable manner. The French Cartomancy deck is a little tougher to figure out. It looks like a full sky of clouds, roughly the same shading.
The King of Clubs is factored in my perception that is illustrated in the above image. He faces towards the lighter side of the clouds, his back is on the darker side of the clouds and the top & bottom are easy to figure out.
The Clouds always pass and sometimes you can get caught in a heavy down pour in the midst of it all.
In life situations, you get “drenched” temporarily but have options.
-you dry yourself off as in lick your own wounds
-change into dry clothing as in change your attitude about the whole thing
-enjoy the rain as in look at it as a cleansing & healing experience
