#4 House Lenormand
#4 HOUSE

KING of HEARTS
The House card can be read on several levels. One thing to note is that the cards from a standard deck that correspond to the 36 Lenormand images do not always match up with the scene/meanings depicted.
In this case, the King of Hearts fits in quite nicely. He is related to the Tarot King of Cups to some degree. This particular King has a long time association with a male member belonging to the family circle. He can be a father, husband, brother or son. Usually he does not represent an in-law unless that person has taken on the responsibilities of being a “dad”.
Often he will be a very caring man who belongs to a church or community group where he is a leader for a worthy cause. When you get stumped trying to figure out who he is look to the cards falling above or to the left of him to get more information. The cards beneath or to the right of him will reveal his involvement in situations which are indicated by the “following” card.
The House card represents all that is related to the home -where you live. It can be anywhere that you consider your home. The actual structure of the residence doesn’t matter unless you are interested in real estate, then it is an actual house, condo, apartment, townhouse. It can be a cottage if the SHIP card is next to it. What you need to remember is that only you can decipher that. If you are interpreting the cards for someone else, it is a good idea to get some background prior to the reading.
I think it is such a waste of time, trying to identify what it is. A card readers’ role is not to guess at the possibilities, it is to offer guidance around specifics. When you go to the doctor, he/she always asks you questions first so that he/she can give you the best advice based on what your needs are. When the person in the medical field does not know - you are sent for further testing. He/she remains a professional doctor despite the fact the prognosis is inconclusive. A card reader should ask questions not for the sake of getting the answers handed to them on a silver platter… and what would the point of that be anyways.
It is OK to ask a person to clarify what exactly the house is. Reading the cards is not about trying to impress anyone. If the other person is unwilling to confirm information and you find yourself struggling - leave the reading for another time. Many people do not know just how much energy is expended in coming up with proper identification in the cards … especially the Lenormand and other sibillas. There are so many “it could be this” and “it could be that”. The only time this is acceptable is when you are telling a person about situations in the future lines. In this case, there is the unknown factor involved.
The House card should be pretty easy to read. There are no big startling secrets regarding the suggestive meanings. You can take it a step further.
From a spiritual aspect, the House card can be your own physical body. The house/temple within. Again, this angle will only make sense to those people who want to read this deck in that manner. Questions like, “what is going on inside of me right now?” It’s up to you to decide how you want to read the House card. The basic and traditional meanings of this card are simple to understand. Use the keywords for any cards that fall with the House card. Tell a story by stringing the keywords together like a pearl necklace.
There are no right or wrong ways to read cards with perhaps the exception of the Tarot and even so, the Tarot is no longer a mystery as it once was. I’m sure Madame Lenormand made up stuff as she went along and for that matter she had so many symbols on her original cards that one of those would eventually make sense. She incorporated numerology, astrology, flowers and other shorthand symbols of her own.

Hi Madame Seaqueen,
The more I play with the Lenormand, the more they speak to me personally…I started out with a framework, but the intuition is fleshing it out. I don’t usually take alot of notice of the playing card inserts, as I like to read them separately, but the King of Hearts on the House card really fit my reading that I did today..it’s my husband’s card, and it just fit
I keep a log of all my drawings and readings, and as they come about, I go back and make notes-when the cards give me other meanings, I jot them down in a special decorative book so that I will remember!
I enjoy reading your slant on the cards MS, it’s fun to find people who love cards as much as I! lol
ps- I wanted to thank you for the link to the Mystic Quadrate….I’m going to order his books next month, and seriously study his system. I am really excited about that!!

Hello Spiritsong,
Thanks for your comment. Sounds like you have devised a good system that works for you with regards to the Lenormand. I did the same thing for many years (my notes on the readings) and this is why I stress this point in my posts. We all have our own angles when reading cards. As much as the Lenormand is simplistic in approach, it can be taken to higher levels if one wants to. Many people would rather play it safe and follow other peoples “dogma” footsteps.
I have worked with the Mystic Quadrate system for about 7 years approximately. I have read Olney H. Richmond’s book “Mystic Test Book” quite a few times since I bought it about 25 years ago. It is challenging to understand his techniques and when Robert Camp came out with his Destiny card system, it made it easier to follow but not necessarily any better than Olney’s.
The main difference between Camp’s and Morrell’s system is that Thomas offers detailed description on how to quadrate the plates & he follows a slightly different technique in ascertaining the secondary card than Robert does. There is much more in The Master Book of Prediction set is valuable, as you will find out when you do get your own books.
I follow my own 52 days periods very closely both through birth and personality cards. The cards that fall in these spots do not always manifest within the time frame but for the most part will be a significant influence throughout the birthday cycle.
Happy blogging. Madame Seaqueen.
