I think that the question below is very important and that is why I have put in a post for all to read. You may be thinking along the same lines as Kitty.
This post will be backed up with a physical example using Lenormand & Tarot as soon as I prepare the readings.

Hi there Seaqueen,
have often wondered about this topic and would like to know your thoughts on it: to what extent/how much does a querent’s desires + ideas of preconceived outcomes disrupt or distort readings? regardless of how open minded a querent is being consciously, is it possible
that their unconscious thoughts + desires can alter readings? I know that some readers like to verify their readings by
eg:
1st asking a specifc question with rider waite.
2nd doing a general what’s ahead in querent’s life type of spread with
Lenormand.
3rd using ride waite again in a Celtic Cross spread where you use the whole deck of cards (I think is similar to what’s going on in querent’s life in future type spread.)
if querent’s thoughts were disruptive to the reading, will it be apparent? such as discrepency or conflicting results between 3 readings perhaps?
of course the querent has to be willing to accept what the cards want to say. but can readings be ‘polluted’ by unconscious or conscious thoughts? and how can you tell?

Hi Kitty,
I tend to believe that the unconscious thoughts + desires do influence the “cards” that are selected. That is why it is never a good idea to do a reading when you are upset or when the person asking for the reading is upset.
If our unconscious thoughts do have a factor in the drawing of the cards, then what that means is that those exact unconscious thoughts CAN contribute to the manifestation of the outcome. Thoughts are energy, like energy attracts like energy- positive or negative.
Some things (external influences beyond our capabilities to control) will come true no matter what we think-
I can speak for many readers by saying that when a reading is done- the cards reflect the energies at that moment in time. It is believed the outcome can be altered. I am not convinced though that external influences affecting the outcome can be altered.
In your example, of doing the 3 different readings of the same aspect. All 3 can concur, or 2 out of 3 or none of them because the cards reveal the answers that reflect what is consciously asked but unconsciously driven. Even if the readings are 5 minutes apart, your thought patterns are 5 minutes apart as well. The pollution as you say does happen.
How can you tell? That is a loaded question that does not have 1 answer because there are many factors involved, as in what is the question, what just happened, why is the question being asked, what state of mind is the person in, is the question being asked about someone else…..and so on.
The Lenormand cards will be more direct, in my opinion and can “pick up” on daily details but Tarot is really not suppose to be about fortune telling, but about “trends of energy”. I have 2 sets of meanings for the Tarot, one for the psychological questions and one for the mundane questions.
The Lenormand cards do not incorporate much psychology because when they were created the social consciousness leaned towards occult and superstition.
To further demonstrate, by actually doing 3 readings like the example you presented I will do a separate entry. I hope this answer shed some perspective on what you are wondering about, which is a really good question most of us readers have asked ourselves.
